Of all the potential issues on a bike the battery in the keyfob is the last thing on my mind lol

Just carry a spare.
But just for fun, take the battery out completely and give yourself confidence, by starting the bike by putting the key on the flat rectangular bit under the rear mudguard.

After that sleep like a baby..... not while riding of course, thats a bad idea 👍
Only issue is access to rear mudguard with panniers requires arms length of orangutan or a two person operation to hit starter!

on the RS, all you need to do is push the little plastic key or dead battery fob in between the rider and passenger seat, or simply remove the rear seat. The sensor is only under a thin bit of plastic.
In theory, if my keyless fob is not working or lost, I could tape the little grey plastic key under the seat so I did not have to faff about. I had a spare "dumb" key cut to be able to take off the seat without using the keyless fob and I keep the spare transponder key in the knee armour pocket of my Rukka trews. Of course, you would need to remember to retrieve the grey key when parking the bike...
 
+1 against using Duracell. I had to replace mine recently after the low battery symbol appeared on the dash. Only spare I had was a Duracell, new and unopened packaging. Fitted it and the lights on the dash came on but the bike wouldn't start. Had this before with Duracell after a few months of use though. Removed the battery and replaced it after getting a new battery and bingo, all working as it should be. I don't know what would cause this but I've had issues with Duracell before both for the car and the bike key fobs. Best place for the Duracell is the bin imho. Panasonic or Varta batteries seem to last longest and I've never had a single issue with them.
