Hi all,

I'm looking for as much help, advise and suggestions as I can get on buying my two boys (9 + 12) their first dirt bike,

Any pearls of wisdom, suggested bikes etc would be appreciated.

Maybe one of them 1100/1150 things :D

Shep :bounce1

I'd be carefull of the chineese copies, friend of mine is trying to fix one - says the only good thing about it is that it would make good land fill (thinks they worked to the nearest 1/2 inch with tolerences) ;)

I've been selling Chinese copies for over 2 years now and in that time have not had a single one break down.

Like all things there are good makes and there are bad makes.

My daughter Mary and her boy friend Daniel, both wotk for www.bolddog.com and Daniel rides moto X and freestyle.
I asked them if they knew anyone selling a bike to suit younger lads and it seems that Bolddog have a Honda CRf 100 for sale.
It is a bike that they have used to practise back flips into a foam pit.
Other than that, it has little use and I believe not been used for motoX.
I don't know the price, but you could contact them direct if you think it might suit.
Mike.

Hogdawg,
I have just spoken to Daniel and he says that the CRf 100 would be an ideal bike for 9-12 year olds.
He has been riding dirt bikes since he was a child (22 now).
He also tells me that Lings Honda www.lings.com are selling the Crf 100 for £1350 brand new. That seems like a bargain to me bearing in mind it's a honda.
Hope this is useful.
Mike.

Thanks for your replies guys,

Boxertools, thanks for all the effort you've put in on my behalf. I'm not looking to spend that kind of money, I guess I'll keep my eyes open locally for something to come up.

I was more looking for advise and tips on what kind of bike, gear etc to buy and any other implications of buying this kind of bike.

Thanks

Try them on on pukka trials bikes, you can practice on small hilly land, dont need big areas, dont get injuries ( no speed involved) they can compete without a huge expense. my two boys love it ..yamaha ty 80 and a gas gas 50....teaches good bike control..they can still have a whizz about when dad is not looking.
the bikes dont lose much value when grown out of either.

OK, no problem.
If you need kit and you decide to buy new, you could always try Bolddog.
Give Mary a ring, they may have returned or old stock that they would like to shift.
Mike.
