Interesting problem returning home from France last week. Left hand indicator coming on intermittently, could only be turned off by holding down continuously the cancelling paddle. It looks as if the micro switch is broken. The official solution is to replace the whole unit at a cost of £198 which seems a bit steep. Has anybody had a similar problem and found somebody who can repair these units or sell replacement units.
Thanks

are you pulling my feckin chain? a £198
try motorworks link at top of page.

$286.54, part of a cluster.

Price may change if you have ABS etc, the part I've seen is 61317704621

Yes, I had exactly the same with mine in France a couple of years ago, on my RT. The switchgear is crap & despite many assertions to the contrary on here there are problems with them.
However, I resolved mine by liberally dosing it with WD 40, right into the indicator switch. This cured it for a day or 2 at a time and eventually seemed to sort it once & for all.
There's an interesting debate about the switchgear on here, together with the allegation that if you can't fix it yourself you're your own worst enemy, not fit to own a motorbike & don't deserve to draw your breath from the same air as the technical genius' who we are lucky to have walking our earth.

A couple of years ago somebody had a similar problem due to the rubber membrane over the switch being perished and allowing water to penetrate and cause a short. Solved by making their own mould and casting a new membrane from liquid rubber solution, a clever repair. Maybe a thread search will find it?

Thank you all for your help - gave me the confidence to look further. Microswitch didn't respond to WD40 so was definitely was buggered and has been removed. Looks a simple job to solder another one in but no idea where I could get one. Will ring Motorworks and see what they have.

Kipperman, have a search through the 1200 Hexhead section. There are posts from people that have successfully replace the sealed switches with components sourced from the likes of Farnell.

I did the same when my right indicator stuck on, and my starter button

The switchgear is like lego, comes apart easy enough. The switches themselves are embedded in some sealing product, you need to dig that out carefully. I used sealing wax to embed my replacements.

The wires are soldered on to the witch pins, this is where it gets a bit tricky, it is easy to melt the switch body trying to get a hot enough tempt to solder the wires, worthwhile getting a couple of spare switches in case of destruction - DAMHIK.

Farnell's website is not easy, nor quick to search, if you find the correct articles in this forum, you should be able to get some part numbers too. I think the switches are somewhere around the £5-£10 apiece mark.

Bottled out on trying to replace switch, wires look far too thin for me to experiment on. Motorworks £80 on and working, so I reckon I've got about £118 to play with. Thanks for all your comments and help
