hi guys, wanna check if anyone experience this valve knocking while the bike is fired up. after awhile it seem back to normal. but when i start to move off, while picking up speed, the sound came back . then when i slow down , it's back to normal, when i start to pick up speed again, the sound will come back after a certain RPM. so i was wondering if there a loose valve that needs to be fix or is this normal. coz when i hear this kind of sound, i am afraid that something might just give way .

btw, mine is an old 96" r1100gs

thanks!! :blagblah:blagblah:blagblah

When were the valves last adjusted? Surely that's the place to start investigating. If they are not badly adjusted and then you hear the noise you can start to investigate other possibilities but until you know they are set correctly to start with it's anyone's guess what the problem is.

hi, thanks for the reply.
ok, i did my valve adjustment like sometimes last month, and after that, the bike was not moving a lot as i am on vacation. but this has been going on way before this. but now the problem seem to be getting more serious.

I also wanna to if there any other adjustment beside the tap-pad?

thanks!!

Is it on the right side. If so, try putting your hand on the throttle pulley behind the injector, you should feel it pulse back and forward slightly or worse. The knock should stop. Its not really a problem unless its well worn, plenty of info on here to repair it. Good luck.
