KTM 990 Adventure - Should I?

Front brakes are good, just get used to them. (i only noticed them really when going into downhill hairpins in the Pyrennes, compared to my old servo GS12 that is) Still on oe pads (brembo) and still only half worn 18K.
If you always use the tank bag, its much better than the normal one filler cap I can assure you, as you can leave it on when filling never thought of it s a PITA though :nenau
Scorps last about 4K ish one up may be a little less if always two up, the usual 2 rears one front combo. If staying on tarmac Conti Trail attacks are superb
I use a touratwat screen spoiler, wunderlech do a new adjustable one now for about £80.
It will only get better and you will always be grinning, :bounce1:bounce1:thumb2

Allan,

are the trail attacks as good in the wet and how long do they last?

Nice bike and write up on how your getting on with it. :thumb2

Have TA's on my 950 for the last 3k miles. Mostly road riding including a track day and the odd easy green lane. Wear rates are very good and they grip well in the wet (better than Scorps). If your mainly riding on the road they are the tyres to have. :)

Some guy on Orange Crush (Adv Rider) reported on getting more than 6k on a rear and over 10k on a front.

Fantastic bike!

But ...

... but I really just wanted to get home and get the spanners out. GPS, Autocom, Scotoiler and power for heated jackets to fit/ wire up ... It was a mission and a half as there is no spare space anywhere to fit my fusebox ... I didn't get finished yesterday so spent this morning finishing the wiring and fitting the Scotoiler, all was almost done at midday but then I dropped a screw and ended up taking both tanks off to find the jigger!! The suspension was a bit soggy yesterday so I set the whole lot to 'sport' before going in to get my bike gear on. It was 2 pm before I ended up getting out ...
... don't you have People to do that kind of thing :D

Tricky has answered that. Only put em on to stop me going off road. Had a big off last July on the way to the Hograost, and still not right enough to go off road, Trail attacks was my wifes answer :blast Simples :D

About turn
After much debate and poring over exactly what the bike will be used for,all the costs involved, dealer stuff etc.... I have ordered a GS12 instead:D
I don't think my wife could cope with big distance on e ktm and I am trying to get her out on the bike more so in this respect, it would be somewhat of a setback

Flipping'eck Dave, you feeling ok?

Well, my 1150 GSA SE is in for a service with Motoscott on the 29th of this month and I've arranged to take out a brand new 990 ADV from the KTM centre in Hemel for a few hours!!!!!

Can't wait:D

the future is orange

i've had my 990 since end of oct last year, just getting it where i want it suspension wise (5'7"). done bashplate, side stand relocator, HID low beam, carbon cans. just need to sculpt the seat and get a re-map and i'm done fettling.
great fun to ride, smile from ear to ear.
looking forward, well yes theres the fuel range, i'm planning on adding an underseat tank (in the space for the tool kit etc) only a gallon, but it's in the right place for weight / C of G.
other than that, happy days, here comes the summer

25,000 miles on the 990 now and still think it's ace :thumb Just keeps growing on me :) All I've really changed from the initial accessories are the pannier frames, moved from the Hepco and Becker frames to Touratech, they are four inches higher at the front which makes a lot of difference when it comes to cornering clearance, I was scraping the panniers with the old frames. I've also changed quite a few fasteners for stainless steel due to the original fasteners corroding once they've been touched by a spanner.

Great bike and I"m really enjoying it.

This is an interesting thread:-
I'm just about to do a deal on a 2006 13kmiles KTM Adventure ( fully kitted).in a swap for my 2009 Thruxton. I'll keep you posted to what I think :beerjug:

Recently bought my 07 990 Adventure and got to Geoff at Hilltop Motorcycles to sort the fuelling out. Its awesome.

As My Avatar..... I bought it at at 2006 with 13kmiles 3 owner FKTMSH loaded with extras & the 80mile ride home was BRILLIANT
The 990 ( fuelling all SORTED) was as smooth as silk and rapid
