I have cut these posts from a thread in the Travel section.

Richard

My only comment is not so much about your routes (it’s your choice where and how you go) but about the way the routes are created.

Take route 2 for example:

A. MyRoute’s recommended best practice is to place a ‘waypoint’ (the inverted teardrop) every five kilometres / three miles. Yours are much more widely spaced.

B. You seem to be using a curious mixture of ‘via points’ (the hands, ie. points you must go through) suddenly lobbing a whole bunch in at the end of the route.

According to the ‘best practice’ it should look more like this, the number of points increased by using MyRoute’s expand tool:

There are several advantages in using MyRoute’s ‘best practice’ suggestion, particularly when it comes to any recalculation you might do, any closed roads you might encounter and, not least if you share or use the route outside of the MyRoute Navigation app, running on a phone.

Thank you for the tips. The teardrop waypoints are as a result of dragging to the desired route. You have answered a question I had as to why routes shared to Mrs Stirtloe were coming out differently on her Garmin.

Thank you for the tips. The hand waypoints are fuel stops/ view points. I have them marked on my versions I’ll check if there is a permissions setting on MRA I need to tick to enable the information to be on the public version.

Welcome.

There is a post and thread in the GPS section about the expand function:

PS. I now always following MyRoute’s best practice tip of a waypoint (inverted teardrop) every three miles. I also favour exporting (save as) MyRoute routes into my Garmin XT in version 1.1.
