Fitting y piece and remus can, everything going well until dropping cat to remove lambda sensor, stuck fast, very fast:censor:
Any suggestions to help remove, greatly appreciated :thumb2

When I did mine I soaked the thread in Ease-it and then applied heat to the area of the cat around the sensor using a hot air gun (the type you use to strip paint) but don't rush it. If you're lucky you can tap the spanner with a hammer lightly to break the lock between the sensor and the thread in the cat.

Patience !!!!

Good Luck.

Combination of any of the following...

Soaking in WD40 hourly
Soaking in paraffin and machine oil hourly
Heat metal of cat with blowtorch
Chill metal of lambda with cold spray

Note......some or all of the above may poison the lambda :blast

Alternative.....get a universal replacement delivered for £17.75 from ebay (do a search for my thread about my lambda sensor and you'll find the link) then use BMW plug, crimps and heatshrink to make your own, brand new one and plug that into the Y piece :thumb2

Fanum, When i removed mine, all it required was a shock to the spanner or maybe two :hammer to loosen :thumb2

Appreciate it, many thanks, might just go for a new one. Cheers

I didn't bother even removing it as I was replacing a suspected dead sensor anyway.

It did look a bit manked up in there though (technical term :D)

Slacken it whilst the cat is in situ on the bike. A good spanner & a tap or two with a hammer was enough for mine, then remove the cat from the machine, etc...

Best to use a ring spanner if it fits over the lambda wiring socket. Ring spanner and tap with a mallet.

Eventually removed sensor, mole grips, wd, heat from our lasses hairdryer!! worked a treat. Y piece and remus can refitted and bike ran like the proverbial and a little loud for my delicate tabs. Going to refit cat and remus can, ran like a dream with this combo. Only fitted y piece as it came with the bike when buying last year and wanted to try it out. Will b available for sale shortly!!

Thanks for all suggestions, 15 min job when sensor removed.
