Bike real late for first service. Now covered 1100miles. Service now booked but not until 1st July. As Im likely to do another 500miles plus before this date, is it worth changing the oil myself just to be on the safe side?

I would try and talk nicely to a dealer and try to get the service done asap or you may void your warranty.

Yes change oil and filter yourself. Use bmw filter. Keep recipts. First service is not much more than that.
