LC Service intervals a disgrace

I have no issue with you or your service plan, but you make a daft arsed statement then contradict it.

That's what I thought too :nenau

True, when I first buy a vehicle I look at the service costs, and possibly the mpg.
I then decide to buy or not.
After that the running costs only become relevant when you become aware its falling apart, and has become a money pit, imho.

You look at the service costs and the mpg before you decide to buy...

... but then the running costs only become relevant when it falling apart :banghead:

xtz660 - bought brand new - now at 15000 kms.

dealer costs nil

normal service costs - one oil change and one oil filter.
2 new rear tyres
1 front tyre
2 sets rear brake pads
Foam air filter - washed and replaced twice.

my kind of running costs :thumb

Don't sweat it to much. Manufactureres these days have to please a lot of people. Firstly the dealers who pay a lot of money for the equipment and need to get thet back with service charges. Then theres the litigation bunch...they sue when things go wrong so put 6000miles in the book its safer.

Just use your common sense. I have on 06 1200 bought new in 07, it have 81,000km on the clock, oil gets changed once a year, it check the valves myself its a 1 hour job, while changing the oil. I'm on my third set of tires, second set of plugs, original brake pads.... common sense and a slight mechanical understanding, and able to down load instructions from here to do everything yourself. Sure during warranty you stick to the book. but for most people 6000miles is normal these days. even a lot for joe-public.

Anyway ... I buy with the heart not the head :blast

:D:D:D:D

Many years ago outside Rainbow in Sheffield I was deliberating about whether to buy a new 1150GS or not, I had a conversation with a very wise man about bikes, riding, women and the world in general. His advice then was if I want it and can afford it then BUY IT and ride it - essentially the same message as you are saying now.

That man was YOU  cheers Micky. It was the best thing I ever did :thumb
. . . waiting for my new one in a couple of weeks, no 'head' logic on this one either but looking forward to it as much as my first if not more so
