Already put this in Pic of the day but thought it would be more appropriate here.
Took a little trip to see my Grandfather's Memorial. No grave, so he is commemorated at Le Touret, along with 13,000 allied dead.
Suitably sombre day but stunning tree colour.
The nearest battle to him when he fell
Very peaceful and dignified place
One poppy fell off the wreath. I was going to keep it but found three German graves in the graveyard, so it stayed right there, on one of the stones.
Crossed channel in the tunnel and stayed at Arras in the Ibis. All strongly recommended.
