Leaking brake fluid

Hi all

I noticed the other day that the brake fluid was alarming low on my GS 1200 Adventure (2008 model) and so did the only sensible thing and topped up the reservoir mounted on the handle bars.

Taking it out today I had only got about 100 yards and noticed it pouring down from underneath the reservoir, possibly out of one of the connecting hoses but it was difficult to tell. Sorry I can't be more specific, I'm not that mechanically minded.

I was hoping someone here might have come across the same issue and would be able to suggest a way of fixing it. Or is it something that needs to go back to BMW for??

Thanks in advance!

Get it recovered to the dealer - it must be under warranty. DON'T RIDE IT! If brake fluid has leaked over the tyres and elsewhere the brakes won't work properly, the tyres will slide (and may need replacing) and the brake fluid is probably damaging the paint. Make sure that all these items are fixed under warranty (assuming it isn't damage caused by you).

Lucky you don't have a K1

Thanks for the replies guys.

Having done a little more research it appears there was a recall notice on 2008 models relating to the brake lines.

As I've not had it long it looks like the previous owner didn't get the notice, or forgot to inform me. Anyway I'm going to be phoning BMW today!!

Cheers again for the advice!
