Changed all the pads on my 2005 1200 today. They weren't drastically worn down so I didn't have to retract the pistons by a great deal. Whilst doing the second set of front ones, I noticed an a fair amount of oily fluid which had run on and around the nearside of the centre stand - thin, yellow tinged fluid which seems to have been ejected from one of the breather tubes. Is this likely to be brake fluid from the pump reservoirs and if so is this a normal occurrence?

I had the same on mine years ago. I didn't do anything about it and it was fine

....and get the fluid washed off sharpish. Pretty good as a paint stripper if left on.

ABS unit sits on top of engine under petrol tank. My bike had totally wrecked paint on engine top. You will need to remove petrol tank and wash it down with a very strong product like gunk and some heavy duty detergent.
