My 1150 GS is 2 years old and I`ve noticed that after a long run or when I have`nt cleaned it for a while there is slight oil weapage from the joins in the engine casings.
I recently returned from a 1500 mile trip round Germany and was sat at the Ferry terminal at Rotterdam and saw weapage from all the engine casings and the shaft to final drive case. I then looked at my mates bike which is identical but 6 months newer and there was`nt a trace of oil anywhere.

Anyone else had this problem?

Sounds like it needs a doctor

I have got a leak in the left cylinder head but nothing a drastic as you describe. How much oil are you losing ?

Get it to the doctor, sounds like the seals are not doing their job of sealing!!!!!

If it's coming out of the sides of the engine, behind and slightly above the injectors (the mating joint by the engine number) then your main crank seal has gone and it's gonna cost ya!!! Unless you've got warranty???

It seems to weap from ALL mating surfaces...to put it in context:
I`ve never seen a drop of oil on the garage floor and the oil weapage can only really be seen due to the dust it attracts!

I`ve owned British bikes and I know what oil leaks are but this seems very minor..but bloody annoying.

Mine has been showing a slight weep between the engine and gearbox joint on the right hand side since about 6k miles. Since it looks like a big job, I thought I'd do the usuall and let it develop, then fix it.
Been waiting 30,000 miles and it still wont develop

What the hell, it washes off and the bike still goes OK:D

The smear of oil on the 'vertical' crankcase to transmission joint is caused by the clutch pushrod oil seal failing; a known problem. I had mine fixed (R1100S) under warranty. If unattended oil could contaminate the clutch assembly.

Mine has a weep from the timing cover seal, and another from the base of the LH cylinder to block gasket. Very slight, doesn't sem to affect oil consumption and washes off, so I keep an eye on it, and if it gets worse, I may do somethign about it!
