OK nearly there - I've added quite a few coats of lacquer, thin at first then heavier. Then, after letting it harden properly, I've started with T-cut to try to get it nice and flat all over. Some areas are not quite so glossy... I am hoping that it I persist with the T-cut they'll improve??? We'll see!

Yes, it's one thing to read about how to paint, but personally until I make the mistakes myself, I don't really learn.

I can't really be bothered to step backwards and make this one perfect, but I do think that if I did another tomorrow, it would be spot on.

I'm not quite finished with this one, I want to completely get rid of the very fine orange peel effect (although it looks much worse on the pics).

The last bits and pieces arrived, so here it is screwed together.

The badges came from India (the same people that make repro fuel tanks) and the cap and knee grips were sourced in the UK.

I can still improve it with more T-cut and wax, which I may do if I get a burst of enthusiasm. But for now it's done.

The blemishes in the pics are just tricks of the light. That's my story anyway.

The point is, I learned lots and found it quite satisfying - I now have a bit more confidence to attack that scratch on Mrs G's car...

So, who wants to buy a tank for a very obscure British bike, painted in patently non-original colours,,, he he!
