LED Headlamp adjuster

Many thanks, but its the later unfortunately
Ah!

I think you're the 5th person in as many weeks wanting one for this version of the headlamp... I need to pull my finger out and get the mount sorted for this version (I need one myself!?@#£!

Ok. Below is some info about this adjuster mechanism. It's in this section because it is dedicated to only the Hex Head.

As mentioned, it is the result of lots of back and forth with AndyL from here - he lent his whole headlamp unit which was crucial, but he has also been super patient with the versions, giving me invaluable feedback each time. Mistacat has also been great with feedback early on. So what you have is a team effort 👍🏻.

Designing it to be stuck on has had a big impact on the design. As has my wish to make it modular. Having this third mounting point engaged should also stabilise the whole headlamp and significantly reduce and vibration. It is a near perfect fit onto the headlamp spar.

Highlights and details.

  • No drilling or screws needed
  • 3D printed in ABS, PETG and uses stainless screws (A2).
  • Mounted using genuine 3M 5952 VHB (see illustrations - magenta colour)
  • Modular, so it can be adjusted/updated/ repaired (in the unlikely event it needs it) - see exploded view
  • Offers the full range of adjustment allowed by the slot in the headlamp spar.
  • I have removed the rubber grommet and replaced it with a 3D printed spring/collar - this is a space saving solution - it locates onto the spigot on your subframe the same as the grommet would.
  • It will additionally come with two spacer washers for the primary headlamp mounting bolts (either side of the whole headlamp) - feedback is that this will help make the headlamp snug, which it isn't right now.

* because this unit is stuck on I must stress for good surface preparation (alcohol wipes/surgical spirit/high flashpoint solvent - avoid methylated spirits as that leaves a residue). Then after sticking, try to leave for 24hrs, ideally 48hrs - 3M claims full bond in 48hrs.

I had originally thought to give these away. But with the time, materials, assembly, postage, it all sort of adds up to way more than I expected :blast
Would people be ok with £28.99 posted within the UK on a signed for service (£5-6 of this is for the postage)?

Feedback welcome 😊

Lastly, some other items in my pipeline. Anyone interested in these?

  • Adjuster mech for the 'Radical' version of the LED headlamp.= currently in CAD stage
  • Garmin XT super slim locking device - 7mm thick, fits directly behind the OEM mount - prototypes done, currently making adjustments.
  • Shoei Neotec 1 & 2 helmet camera mounts for drift and GoPro (yes, it solves the issue of clearing the flip-up yet still projecting forward enough to clear the the camera's view) - Non adjustable versions available immediately.
I know it's a long shot bearing in mind the time scale but I don't suppose you still have any of these? I sort of fixed mine by changing the washers and side fixings to a proper nut but it means undoing and moving every time I go two up or loaded with enough gear for a week for a weekend!

There are a few different versions. May be worth posting a picture or link to the one you have.

Hi! Apologies. Mega busy these days. Only just back into the app

I understand what you're describing. I think the solution is to fit washers - plastic washers so they creat some friction, but not enough to lock up the whole assembly.

I can send you washers. You can pm me with your address and you'll have them by the weekend or sooner

I think I may have one of the adaptors in a box somewhere, however I'm moving at the moment.
Drop me a PM and we can work out the details of getting it to you

Hi,
Do you still have any of the adjusters for the LED headlights available? If so I would really like to purchase one for with shipping to Norway 😀

Thanks for the reply! I am very interested, but don't know how to send PM in here. Perhaps you can send to me, I guess I should be able to find a way to reply.
But I tried to send you an e-mail some time ago (sept 7th) as well to a mac.com address, did you receive this?

Yes! Still making them. Need to run off a few more components. Send me a PM and I'll forward the doc so you can see if it's what you're expecting and you're on for fitting it (it's not complicated!).

I should clarify quickly that the adjuster only fits the version that looks like the very ovoid OEM lamp. See pic below

It's probably the single best upgrade for these bikes. They're really great 👍🏻

Perfect!!!
Yes that’s the one I’ve got the left one .
Not sure how to pm you in here .

You might want to send slippers a picture of the back of the headlight, the moulding of the back case seems to differ depending on which OEM made it

Like @GSNorway , I fail to send a PM to you, @Slipperyeel (maybe this is only possible after having sent out ... replies?).
Question: what would be the postage to Germany? Will customs charges be charged?
Hello Zebulon
The value is so low, there will be no customs charges. Postage. Very little extra, £2-3 max ☺️

**UPDATED VERSION**

Risk takers wanted ☺️

I have update (just a little) to a 4.5.1 version. The changes are:

• loss of the hex ribs on fixed component
• creation method

In short, among other new machines I've gotten in the last 18 months, I also bought a Formlabs 4L complete with ancillary equipment.

This new version can be in black, but I only have this translucent version right now. It's not cheap at all (printer or material!!) but it should be far superior to the filament printed version.
This material is polypropylene based.

If anyone anyone is interested in this version, it will come will come with a full refund or full replacement if you break it or it fails.

I have x4 units

Let me know

Hi,
Any idea on the price with shipping to Canada?
Thanks!
Steve

Just to say, if this is an improvement, then it will be a brilliant item. I have the previous version with the 1200 lamp tagged here, and it all works fantastically well. FWIW the colour I don't think is really important. The red wheel more so as it stands out better. You can make do without it for sure, but it makes adjustments made easily and quickly. I experimented with incremental changes until I found the optimum setting, that would have been a proper pain without the adjuster.
