LED Running Lights / Auxiliary Lights Question

Im a bit confused about the lights on the GSA TE.

On my Triumph Tiger I had low beams on all the time as is standard on all bikes.
High beam had a switch to activate with corresponding light on the dash (and a trigger to flash).
The auxiliary lights had a dedicated button fitted next to switch gear that illuminated to let you know when you had activated them. Simple.

The GSA is obviously more sophisticated but I'm damned if I can figure out what lights I have on. I'm fairly tech savvy but I'm baffled and the manual isn't much use.

From what I know, there is the high beam switch (incorporated into the trigger which I like) and light on the dash. It gets a bit fuzzy after that.

There is a button but I'm not sure if it's to turn on/off the automatic lights / LED Running lights / auxiliary lights?
I know if I press it I get the auto light indicator on the dash, I also get a main beam? Light show on the dash.

I though I had it figured out that by turning the high beam on and getting the main beam light? showing on the dash, then turning high beam off again. I managed to get the main beam, led running lights and auxillery lights all on at once. This is what I'm looking for when I filter.
This isn't consistent though and obviously I don't want to have to pull up to get off the bike to mess around and check my lights every time.

Surely the spot lights and LED running lights have there own indicator on the dash?
I must be missing something.

You must have the dipped beam on if you want the auxiliary light to work.

DRL's only work on their own................ Why BMW decided this, only BMW know.

Hi Gargy thanks for the reply.
I'm sure I read somewhere about the DRL and Auxiliary not working together, dazzling oncoming traffic was reason given I think.
But im sure I've had them on together.

How can I control the DRL and Auxiliary (separately if necessary) and know which lights I have on?

Basically you can't.

Ignition on = DRL's on.

Dipped beam on means you can also have the aux spots on by using the switch on the left hand mirror. But the DRL's are off.

The green headlight indicator goes out when you turn on the dipped beam, but the green aux indicator lights up when the aux/spots are turned on..... If that makes any sense.

So to turn on the auxillary lights I have to deactivate the automatic light control and activate the auxillary lights using the switch on the left hand mirror?
This will deactivate the DRL and activate dipped beam and auxillary spots?

BMW in their infinite wisdom have decided that the machine itself can make these decisions on our behalf. Who are you to question that? During the day you will have somthing shining out the front. At night you will definitely have a dipped beam and if you press the switch at the mirror mounting you will also have 2 fogs or whatever you want to call them on as well. You will notice them. I am happy with this arrengement. Now if you want to piss off oncoming motorists put someone fairly heavy on the back. Press the suspension button to the 2 person position and ride off. Notice how the light picks out the birds nests on the top of the trees. Come to a village and stop at the red lights and be surprised at the length of your legs. Check suspension settings and Lo and behold the bike begins to rise. Apparently you have to wait before riding off till the suspension has finished fluting around. JJH

Do what I did with my RT - point the bike at a big glass window (shopfront, etc) and play with the switches....

and dont get them wet …………..they are not waterproof. Mine went off and were replaced under warranty …only three times though…in 9 months !

An alternative course of action would be to have some extra auxiliary lights fitted such - http://www.webbikeworld.com/lights/bikevis-bullets-v2/

These could be wired to be 'on' when the DRLs are on, I guess
