As I already make LED indicator inserts for the 1150 (see link on signature), I have now finished designing a tail light unit as well. Before I send it off to be made, how many of you lot would be interested?

I have had the prototype in mine for months and have covered a lot of wet, cold and muddy on and off road miles with it and had no problems.

It has 32 high brightness RED LEDs on it and will be switchable for IBS and non IBS bikes (so one unit fits all). It will connect using the existing spade connectors on your loom so no cutting or splicing. (read: idiot proof)

It also has 4 separate high brightness WHITE LEDs to light your number plate so you can stay legal.

The board will be professionally made and will probably be selling them for around £45 assembled with maybe the option of buying it in a kit form for a bit less.

The pictures below are of the board layout and the prototype fitted to my bike.

If you are interested in one, just post on this thread so I can get an idea on how many boards to get made, don't PM me as it gets too full.

Rob

P.S. the LED indicator inserts are available in RED only now as the white ones weren't that good (in my opinion). These are made to order at £19.99 per pair and can be hooked up to your fog lights too giving 3 functions (requires some soldering for this function).

Very nice..Does it use ones pointing into the reflector to utilise it as well. The only problem I have seen with some is they are ok if your directly behind them. I like the idea of them but being able to see it from the side as well is a major safety bonus

It has 4 white LEDs pointing back onto the reflector to generate the light for the number plate.
This gives an effective side illumination too.

I can wait until it gets dark and take some more pictures if you like.

Side view

Here it is with a 1" shutter. Still some light because of the HID headlight :)

Note that this is tail light only...and don't my indicator LEDs look good too :augie

Hi Techno, they look like the doggs danglys, I would be interested in a full set, white up front and red rear, plus tail light, whats the cost and availability.

I cant see a price anywhere, but I'd be interested in a set of Indicator inserts front and rear....how much for that?

Plus are they VERY simple to fit?!:D

Only RED available in the indicator lights. Send me a PM if you want to order a set.
The tail light has not been made yet - register your interest here. Approx £45.

Easy to fit? I think so, but instructions are included, but you need to know how to use basic handtools:augie.

Numbers

Ok, I count 8 here that are interested plus a few off line that want some.

I have modified the board to allow my indicator stips to be used as fog lights as well as brake and tail without lighting the main brake light so that might give them some appeal in the poor weather (via your +12v fog switch). You get either Brake and tail function OR only fog that way.

They should be ready hopefully when I get back from holiday early July. I hope to have one made up before I go away so I can give it a few thousand mile test.

They will be offered to interested members in the order they were posted BTW.

I will post a picture of what you can expect as soon as I have one.

led lights

Well i can certainly vouch for Techno's build quality, my front and rear (with switched rear fog) indicator leds work a treat and have done so for the last 15k miles :thumb2

i would be interested in the tail light unit when you have them available.

For what its worth, i like the white front indicator leds, they act as a great marker for oncoming traffic. I got them because i could not afford the front fog lights. i have mine on the bright setting and they are very visible day and night. Top job!

White ones too then

OK.
I can make the white ones if anyone wants them. Like I said it was just my opinion :o

So the RED or WHITE indicator inserts are £19.99 a pair inc P&P.

I will post a price of the tail light unit when I get the boards back.

Very interested in the tail-light.

Thanks, Daithi.

Hi there.

Still interested in a set of front and rear indicator inserts, but would like to see the fitting instructions first to see if I'm up to the job before I buy...otherwise they'll just gather dust for god knows how long!

Is that possible? Thanks.
