Been looking for an off road bike for a few months and picked up this EC300 yesterday, it's a 2012 model with just 4 hours on the clock, they don't look to be hard hours looking at the condition. Going to check out its range locally then it would be good to meet up with some of you green laners from other counties :bounce1

Lovely! Check all bolts and fasteners regularly though.

Yes, I had one of the early 250 ones back in 97/98 and you couldn't tighten things up too tight because the bolts were so soft, hopefully they use better quality fastenings now. Can't wait for the weekend to try it out!

Why do people buy a bike and then just use it for 4 hours?

:nenau

PS - a perfect bike for Tossers-in-the-Tejeda!

Loved my 300 and it was rapid aswell, i had to carry a ruck sack with a couple 2litre petrol cans in it with premixed fuel if going off the beaten track. The 300 is a thirsty beast and fuel range is quite short. If mainly trail riding is what you want to do on i would get a large clarke tank for it from www.cyclebuy.com service is fantastic and the tank will give you roughly a gallon more fuel.

Mine was a couple years older than that one hope they sorted the carb on the newer one's i had to change the carb slide on mine for one that lets more air in as it had a big flat spot as you came onto the power valve was a common issue for several years on them. Once i change it, it transformed the bike and the linear torque on it was almost like a 4stroke. Alternatively you could just jet down the main jet slightly that would give the same effect just a bit cheaper

Took it out in the week just on local back roads, WTF have I bought...... Vibrations like you wouldn't believe, no wonder he only rode it for 4 hours, last time I rode something like this was 10 years ago and I must have been a lot more tolerant.
Anyway had nearly a full day on it today, mostly off road around North Sheffield and then into the Peaks and it is amazing how quickly you adapt and get used to something, it's far from perfect, it's power delivery is unbelievably strong even on the softer mapping, can't wait till the next outing.

took my 2014 ec300f out yesterday 0 miles what a bike easy to ride carbed 5speed 4t torque all the way then woosh when needed:bounce1

My 2003 EC250 bought by me in 2007 also had about 3 or 4 hours on it and has been an epic bike. Still is too.

Getting the jetting correct smoothed things out and also helps to reduce the changes of being caught out if it comes on the pipe on a slippery traverse. Mine has a 9.5 litre tank and will do 3 to 4 hours green laning on a full tank. A 300 may use more fuel I suppose.

Suspension and porting will have improved further on the newer ones I'm sure so it should be a great bike. Mine has never let me down and I only need to clean it and oil the chain between rides.

I had a ktm300 and my bro had the older Gasser 300, the gasser was almost a four stroke on its delivery, very strong but smooth. The Ktm was ..........................BANG, proper lairy!!!

Shame if they've gone down the Ktm power route as the older 300s were lovely.

Looks very nice, who makes the engine? Looks like a Yamaha, in the last picture it shows an Athena barrel.
How do you think it compares with the new Husqvarna FE350?

Yep yam 250 and Athena barrel to 300, only 100 miles in so far excellent but time will tell, the fe350 was good but not a ktm fan I'm afraid this is carbed more fun

I love the Gas Gas chassis, they have always flattered my riding.
I love the manic power of the 2 strokes but sometimes wish for a 4t when I'm exploring or just want to bimble along, they also seem not as anti- social.
I'll keep the 2t but will consider the GG4t as the engine will be pretty much bullet proof with it being a Yam.
Just came across this on the GG site, like the look of it!
