I bought my 04 950ADV about six weeks ago. 33k miles, decent accessories included, FSH (of sorts) but generally nice condition. On arrival the bike was as described although it was clear that it had seen a few winters. The ride from Newcastle to kent was faultless with the exception of one of the cheap Halfords spotlights shaking loose.
As with when I buy any new bike, my plan was to give it a deep deep clean and a bit of a once over. I did a light trail ride during the following week which produced a flicking oil light ......... Time for a light resto I think!
The engine bars although presentable were painted with rattle cans, the sump guard looked a little tired, black encrusted callipers, dull and grubby yolks and numerous corroded fixings ....... You get the picture!
So .... I tore her down, sent a bunch of stuff off for re-plating, stripped and powder coated another bunch of stuff, ordered a bunch of parts and set to work.
Fitted a CJ designs Water Pump kit inc bearings, full fluids and filters, valve clearances checked, carbs balanced.
Cleaned the absolute life out of everything, fitted new heated grips, ran a new accessory loom up from the battery to be switched from the ignition via a relay box for the grips, sat nav, autocom, spots etc .......
Bolted her up and here she is!!
