Lights mods/priorities?

Having looked through most of the posts on lighting I need some advice ...

I want to improve the lighting on my '06 GS (no surprise). I have changed the bulbs to Philips X-treme Power which is an improvement but I want to increase my presence on the road and improve my visibility further. I drive on the motorway and major roads daily, but don't use full beam a great deal.

So....
If I upgrade my dipped beam to HiD this would be an improvement on what I have, but would you recommend upgrading the main beam as well?

I can increase my presence on the road by adding Micro DE's, but won’t these be 'drowned out' by the HiD's, so should I install HiD DE's?

Finally would there be any benefit in adding something like Hella FF50's on top of the above mods?

Is all this possible?

I have both upgraded to HID, but if I could afford to do only one, it would be low beam first, but high beam is worthwile, if you use high beam.

micro DE's work fine and dont get washed out by the low beam, FF50's work well, they widen the beam pattern, which is usefull on unlit country roads, especiall those with bends :thumb2

You've kinda answered most of your questions :D:D

Mod to in this order IMHO

HID Dipped Beam
Hella FF50
Micro De
HID Main Beam
HID Micro DE

Or if you have the cash HID everything.

A well set up HID will not blind people, will improve your lighting more than any other option and is better than any other mod available.

Hella FF50 improve the beam pattern better than HID but if they were HID'd they'd be awesome.

Les Wassall can do them all. It may look dear, but the result is confident night time riding at your normal pace. Touch wood, I have yet to have anyone pull out on me since fitting HID and MicroDe's on my bike. I was so impressed it was the first thing I did to Mrs Flips Transalp.

Hi, Just looking across the site and mods to lighting seem very popular. Just wondered based on your experiences, what set ups you would reccomend for an 1150GSA SE? Also what are the priorities, what should I look at first? Thanks

HID's from Les he is the best man.
If you want to have closer look cam and see my bike this Sanday at the Ace Cafe.

I have that set up, and the Migsel bar, as you well know is super duper. Would look better with the HID's in aswell though :D:D:D

I have crash tested the Migsel bar off road on a number of occassions and I can confirm that it is so far, unbent :blast I think I'm gonna regret saying that :augie
