.....is it legal?

I picked up this little device in Halfords today for about £4.00. I bought it primarily for doing things when stopped or off the bike but would it be in contravention of the law to have them illuminated when riding?

If the law is like it is for push-bikes, you can have anything mounted on your person.

I have a feeling that you cannot attach anything to a motorcycle helmet as you are changing it's construction and that is not how it passed it's safety tests.
 
Back in the winter I spotted an enduro bike with no lights, just a bloke with a serious head torch, he was standing on the pegs too, it was just a disembodied light about nine feet off the ground :eek:
it was only the normally lit bike that was travelling with him that made him even register as a vehicle.
