Can anyone tell me the colour of the wire that powers the dipped beam. I am looking at fitting a pair of lamps to my GS 1150 that I would like to have come on when I turn the dipped beam on. I shall be swapping the 55W bulbs for LED bulbs so that the power draw isn't humungous.

Thanks for any pointers.

LED's are not what you want, HID is the thing to go for LREDs are for instrument lights and pilot li / parking light but will NOT replace 55 wattbulds. HID's will consume less current anf you will see where your going and then some contact Les Wasel on the site for full info. TRhe cable colour accorduing to my all singing and dancing clymer manual is yellow and white. Why no just see what goes to the dip lamp? lefthand lamp veiwing from behind. Disconne ctg the battery before starting the brown wire will be the earth.

I think he's adding additional LED lighting not replacing the dip

B4dit if you PM me an email address I have a wiring diagram of how to do it using relays so you don't over power the original wiring

Cheers Dave,

I am not interested at this time of having more lights for night work. Had the bike out in the dark for the first time recently and I thought main beam was rather good. Good compard to my DRZ anyway.

Lights are mainly to get car drivers to notice me in town.

Relay on order. I am pretty confident of getting the wiring right now I have the dip beam wire colour. Will double check with Multimeter though.

What I am worried about is removing the tank so I can do some neat wiring.

I also want to check the state of the battery and change the air filter. Thats all the service items done on my recent purchase then.
