Lind Norwich

I went for a job interview with them last year and was told they hadn’t made a profit in 9 years. They were going to move further out of the city, near their Porsche dealership a year or so back, as where they are now is nigh on in the city centre. There has been a BMW dealer on that street for as long as I can remember. Can’t see anyone taking up the reigns anytime soon.

The BMW dealer was on Cattle Market street before Ber St.

You are going back to the days of Zak’s on the cattle market then, forgot about that

Pre shopping centre, when the old cattle market was just a car park. Was trying to remember the name of the bike salesman, a lovely old boy (bit like me now :)

It would seem fair to surmise that there was no net profit - that's why the P&L deficit is growing.
There is no P&L quoted.

What neither you or I know how those numbers came in to being - being a small or micro company, they can keep certain things back.

Here's the top line P&L accounts for the company I work for.

I'm not sure what you are looking at TBH - you only need to track 'retained earnings' in the annual balance sheets, since inception; a £254k net loss has been accumulated. Hopefully 2023 will make better reading.

There appears to be just one year where a net profit was declared: -

31/12/18 - Loss £109k (business established)
31/12/19 - Loss £106k
31/12/20 - Loss £12k (Covid closure)
31/12/21 - Profit £20k
31/12/22 - Loss £47k

OK, it's not the detailed P&L to which you refer, so we don't know precisely what these net losses comprise, significantly any exceptional items that may never recur. However, they are mounting losses plain & simple that, if not addressed promptly, could impact the company's future ability to trade as a going concern. Lloyds Bank & BMW Finance appear to have the whip hand currently, but we know little of the underlying covenants.

People who know the dealership and owners know the are many underlying things here.

I popped into Lind this week, as I was passing and hadn’t visited before. I poked around a few bikes (didn’t see a 1300 anywhere, which was odd) and perused a few bits of clothing. Was probably in there for 10 minutes. The salesman and service bloke didn’t even look up from their screens to say hello, which probably tells you all you need to know…

It was like that before they knew they were closing!

Had the email today to say they will cease trading on the 31st. Makes you wonder if another company will take over as the nearest is either Reiten or Sycamore.

Oh well. May have to sell the GS and get some thing with a dealer close to Norwich. Unless anyone knows of any good independent bods in Norwich?

Do search for KRF Motorcycles. I've no personal experience of this guy but you'll probably get better service here. He used to work for BMW.

Kevin has been working BMW’s for years, right back to airheads. Very competent guy.
