Been thinking about switching to lithium cause original (2017) getting a little tired.
Not seen a lot of chat on here - so assuming acid is probably still best option?? Was looking on Motorworks (buy a lot service stuff here) and they look kinda small (and cheap).
I switched to lithium on my Harley and totally transformed the whole starting/ cranking process. The original Harley battery started the bike, but only just with a lazy turnover. The German JMT one I installed has a CCA of 500A and spins the motor loads better.
Any comments or suggestions much appreciated

I think you have answered your own question there.

Kinda suspected that, GS battery never lacked CCA just wouldn’t budge if volts drop. I know this cause once attempted push starting

A battery is a consumable, even if they can last a long time

I put a Yuasa lead acid on my 1200 when the time came, I didn't see any point in spending more
I must admit after reading the issues people were having with lithium (especially if you do not get the right one) it can leave you stranded so like yourself stuck the Yusa HP battery in and had no issues since.

I have a jmt on my LC, I really like it. I don’t have any trickle charger or optimate on it. Last week I flattened it messing about with diagnostics and wiring testing every night, my bad for not starting it. Now I would normally jump my bike with a micro start jumper. The lithium battery was not having that at all, if anything the voltage was going down on the bike when I connected it. So I didn’t know if you could jump start a lithium or not but my mate was on his gs so we connected jump leads and it fired up fine. I tried two different jump starter packs, a genuine microstart xp and a cheaper one that has always worked even on my 2.0ltr diesel and neither would work so ordered some mini jump leads to carry if it ever happens again. Hasn’t put me off lithium batteries at all as a normal battery would have probably died sooner just means my jump starters are destined for the cars now.

I managed to get one of these a bit cheaper via Halfords (I have a trade card) so i wonder if this is the kind of jumper you need

My understanding is that the Motobatt gives the biggest bang for buck, more cranking power than standard?
AGM so you can still use your "normal" charger

Also benefits from 2nd set of terminals if you have accessories to add...

That is virtually the same as the micro start I have, I think the jmt tries to charge the jumper starter as I could see the voltage going down on the battery, weird.

I used to run motobatt as I liked the extra terminals but found it no better than the standard yusa battery, I prefer the lithium now and doubt I’ll go back to mat or gel.

I had the same issue with a Motobatt as the OEM battery...it wouldn't always start my 1250 GSA

I sent it back and got the Yuasa HP version and no issues since

What is the Yuasa model battery for replacing on 2018 1200GSA ? Time to change !
TIA (y)
I believe they are exactly the same

If you put your reg in this website it will check for you https://www.tayna.co.uk/

But be warned there is a cheaper version that doesn't have the H in the code....you must buy the (it has higher cranking amps)

Yuasa YTX14H-BS version!! price should be around £78 (not the £60 version)

You can also get them in Halfords for the same price

There are two battery sizes you can fit on a gs, if you haven’t already remove the foam block under the battery then you can fit the bigger hd battery in. Can’t tell you the yusa number off the top of my head but I have one at home and will look tonight.
