Went to go for a ride today and the oil light would not go out!!!

Check the oil. Plenty there - perhaps overfilled. No ride on the GSA so Boxercup instead.

She was smoking a lot yesterday until full throttle but no feeling of loss of power and tempreture fine. No smoke today (been on side stand overnight).

Any thoughts.

It happened to me once.

I topped up the oil one morning and rode off immediatley.

About half a mile down the road the oil light came on.

I rode back home immediately.

Messed around, no obvious leak or shortage of oil.

Went for a cup of coffee. Came back. Started bike. Oil light was still on. Released the filler cap and the oil light went out.

I am guessing that as I failed to allow the added oil to trickle down through the engine that some sort of airlock developed in the oil pressure sensor. The airlock was immediatle released by opening the filler cap.

Now, I try to remember to top up the oil a little while before setting off. As a consequence the oil light has not come on unexpectedly again.

Experienced same, cleaned connection on Sender next to Oil Level Sight Glass and Light went out.

Yep, clean the sender (bottom front left of engine) and it'll be fine.

Mine packed up after I went wading a few months ago (oops) but I now coat it in WD40 every wash, and it's been fine...

Yeah, It was shorting out for some bloody reason. Stupid place to put it anyway....

I bet the oil light came on after:

A) you washed it

or
B) riding in the wet

common problem with the ops (oil presure switch)
