Help! I have a 02 GS and I have now fitted an Adventure tank. At the same time I replaced the fuel filter - making sure it was the correct way around. After fitting the Adv tank I filled the tank with 10lts of fuel. Initially it started, pushed it back in the garage feeling very pleased with myself. However, now it will not start. The motor spins, starts then stalls. It appears that the fuel is not getting through. The RID shows empty and the fuel warning light is on. I have read posts on similar swops with standard GS parts fitted and expected the RID to be inaccurate. There was a similar post on this subject, but I could not find it. What have I cocked up?

Petrol

How long did you leave it running after firing up ?
Enough to use some of the petrol from the tank or enough to finish what was in the pipe.
Is the pump on??
Good luck.

While writing the post had a brain storm! Went to garage pulled off tank and doh! Rotated pump backing plate one screw hole around, bolted it up again and.........it starts! Thank you.

Hi Vic - have you put the fuel sender unit (round thing with all those nut/bolt things) in at the correct angle? Re-check your fuel lines - if they appear too tight then you may have just put the unit in one 'nut' too much (Sure you know what I mean!)
