Locking Oil Filler Cap!!!!!

Ha, some great replies. Cheered me whilst I been trying to get this fecker off!

For the life of me the ba*s*ed wont move. In its 'natural state, when you hold the outer ring and turn the key, then turn the inner barrel till it stops, are you supposed to just pull it up, cos it aint gonna budge!!

Does the standard one screw off or has that a bayonet fitting?

Thanks All.

Standard cap is a bayonet - 1/3 turn anti-clockwise to remove. I believe (but stand to be corrected) that the TT cap uses the standard rocker cover fittings so should remove in the same manner (once you've got it to unlock of course :D ).

That's the bugger! Thanks for that. I'm sure I'm doing what those instructions say, but it wont disengage. The bike doesn't need an oil change just yet, so when it does, think I'll remove the head and try to push it from the other side.

Thanks for all your help everyone.

Oil cap.

Only one course of action here , E- bay quick.

If he lives reasonably local.. pop round to the last keeper and ask for a demo.

To be honest.. if you dont want it, might as well get it off undamaged... knowing the plonkers on Ebay you'll probably get more for it second hand than it cost new.

It's an epedemic - I've seen hordes of people walking around with pocket fulls of sand looking to pour into engines at every opportunity.

The oil filler plug is very accessible so I always put a locking oil cap on my boxer twins.

I probably do this because, many years ago when I didnt have a locking fuel cap on my Triumph Speed Twin (5TA) a nice child put a handful of privet leaves in my tank. Didn't know a thing about it until the engine suddenly stopped on the motorway with bocked carb jets:eek:.

Maybe I'm over cautious but........:nenau
