I fitted some lower footpegs to my 1150ADV the other day, which have significantly improved the riding position for me.
However, my boots are now too close to the gear lever. What I need is a gear lever that is around an inch or so longer than standard. Does anyone do one? I know TT do one as part of there footpeg lowering kit but it looks too long and is part of a set.
Any suggestions?

Hi David, re l/pegs

Hi David, are the pegs you've fitted Mavericks one's? I'm down for a pair, and have to admit was slightly worried about the boot to gear leaver distance, do the new peg's somehow move forward as well as down, any comments (even piss take one's) appreciated, regards Dusan. :thumb2

Why don`t you adjust the lever position if it`s a height related problem ?

Mind you...if it`s a length problem,then you shouldn`t be a stranger to that....heh heh.

:stupid :D Like most blokes I just need an extra inch in length - I'm 6'3" so it's not a height problem. Sorry, what were we talking about?

Oh yes, Dusan - they're the MiGsel ones (Linky). The footpeg is approx 1" further forward and 1" lower than the stock footpegs - enough to make a difference to the comfort of the bike. But just a bit too close to the existing gear lever.

Anyone any (sensible :mmmm ) suggestions?

I fitted one of these to the 1200GS. Touratech make it and it adjusts for length, not sure if it would be the same spline size as the 1150 though. :nenau

That's exactly what I need! I know that they're available for the 1100 - and now I know they're available for the 1200... just need one for the 1150 now! All GS's but all different

Right, now that I have properly engaged brain, TT DO do one! :blast

However, there is no pic, so I still don't know whether it is eggsacerly what I want. Anyone got one?

I've just bought one with the TTech footpg lowerers and am going to fit it in the next few weeks. Meccano-technik I think.

Makes the GS look like a very "engineered" bike ..... vorsprung durch technik.

David don't you think the TT (you'll be waiting ages) one looks orrible, opefully Mavericks only lowers the footie peg with out changing the position, will have to check with him, Hurrah Tarka's back!!!! :aidan :clap :beerjug: :clap :aidan regards Dusan

I quite like it in a meccano sort of way :D (thanks for posting the pic, Thunder :thumb ).

As for Tarka.... glad to see your back on form :thumb Wossamata, you been suffering severe PMT for the past few weeks? ;)

Now then.....

I bought one of these a while back, and when I came to remove the OE gear lever off the 1150GSA, I managed to fart too loudly and round off the hex head that secures the gear lever to the shaft.

I just put the damned thing back and put the TT version back on the shelf.

Any suggestions? The TT instructions just say "remove OE gear lever". Fat load of good that is.

Is that the one that faces the exhaust? If the hex has rounded, it looks like mole grips to me....

I think I'll start soaking mine in WD40 now...:mmmm

Aye, take out the 3 bolts that secure the footrest to the frame, lower it down out of the way, and the gear lever goes all wobbly. It is still connected to the Universal Joint at this stage, coz I can't figure out how to remove the ball joint. Turn the lever "inside out" and there's a hex head to shove your allen key into. That material is made of ice cream.

Get the WD out, as you suggest.

Mine was really easy to fit, don't know why your having such problems.

Ball joint just pops off with a little encouragement.

Looks shite in alot of ways but improves the gearchange massively.:thumb2

As I said, the hex head rounded off immediately, so with this in mind ( and a willing deisre to start swing a hammer in rage:thedummy ) I decided to leave it alone .:thumb2

OK

Now I've got the OE gearchnage off the bike and off the mount, how the heck did you fit the double ball ended connector to the meccano bit?
Am I missing a part out of the kit?

Thunder posted a link to the PDF version (in German) of the fitting instructions. Pictures included! :thumb

Click Me.

Well, I've ordered one from TouraTech, so that gives you plenty of time to arse around and sort out how to fit it so that you can tell me and save me a lot of hassle!
:D

Done it

Sussed that you need to remove the ball joint from the rear of the OE gear lever. (Pic 1 and pic 2))
Then you can use this through the holes in the TT version to join the original location.

I used long screws to secure the footrest hanger to my desk  with 3 big screws to provide a firm counterpoint to the torque wrench.
