Longer gear lever for 1150ADV?

:clap :clap :clap Well done that man!

Mine will prolly take the usual TouraTech 6-month-fast-delivery, so I'll put the WD40 on now :thumb

Right, TT supplied within the week (:thumb2 ).

Got all the gubbins off and............ rounded the hex head :blast

Bolox. Any ideas? Apart from drifting in an allen key I'm kinda stuck...

Sussed that you need to remove the ball joint from the rear of the OE gear lever. (Pic 1 and pic 2))
Then you can use this through the holes in the TT version to join the original location.

I used long screws to secure the footrest hanger to my desk  with 3 big screws to provide a firm counterpoint to the torque wrench.

Thanks for this spannerrash;Tried to move this today but as I could not get enough leverage on the socket to remove the bastrd, I just sprayed it with easing oil and put it back on for another day
Will now be putting some ugly holes in my working desk any time now:eek:

I got mine out... eventually! The reason for the tightness was a bucketload of thread lock. I ended up grinding the end of an allen key to sharpen it up to give it more 'bite', then knocked it into the bolt. Then a long lever and it eventually gave way. Good luck!

Gear lever

It is tight, heat it up witha hot air gun, this will melt the locktite as per swivel
pin bearings. Don't forget it will be HOT.

Fitted mine tonight
bastard threadlock:eek:
Took an awful lot of effort and long bar on an allen key to make it turn.
Freezespray did nothing at all - missed the threads about applying heat until now. :blast
Almost lost the spring clip for the ball joint in the bash tray
Works fine but now need a rubber cover for the end of the gear lever as its scratching the leather on my boots and the new pegs have grazed my legs twice already. They are dangerous but more comfortable when riding.

I swapped my gear lever the other day, and it wasn't that difficult. If you pop off the little rubber bush from the pin, you'll find a couple of flats that you can get a spanner on, at the base.

And a big thank-you to those who mentioned using heat to melt the threadlock :thumb

I don't think it's mentioned in this thread, but the link to the actuator arm is held onto the round-headed bolts with a tiny metal pin at each end. When I say pin, I really mean a bent bit of wire! Look closely at the bottom of the link, where the rubber bush meets the head of the socket, to the right as you face the bike. There is a tiny piece of wire that you can push to the rear and it then swivels out of the way and lifts out. Once you've done this, it's a LOT easier to remove the link.

Refitting is the reverse of removal, if you can find the critter afterwards :D
