I'd go to BMW for that part unless Motorworks have from a stripped down FD although I'm not sure I'd want a secondhand item. Also that part needs to be correctly shimmed in case you didn't know.

pinion

Why do you only need a pinion? surely it would make sense to change the bevel box or if you fancy the shimming process both crown wheel and pinon. Surely if the pinion is worn / damaged the crown wheel must also be affected?. The abs difference is the bevel box case abs has a mounting hole for the sensor the non abs dosent the former requires a plug to keep the oil in.

Matched Pair?

I'm sure the crownwheel & pinion must be a matched pair and are only sold as a pair.
You don't mention what is wrong with the pinion you have? That information might be helpful too.
As Paul Young mentions, the ABS spec only affects the casing - not the pinions.
I have a "spare" non-abs bevel box - but transferring the pinions and fitting new bearings into an abs casing would require a FULL re-shim:eek: - not an easy job:eek.

I would not like the idea of mixing a pinion, a crown wheel and possibly a casing - would expect a noisy short-lived drive.

Teeth on the pinion seem to have been eaten through, the ones on th crown wheel are intact, which is strange.
I get the feeling if should be a full replacement of both pinion and crown wheel, that's probably the reason it seems impossible to source the pinion on its own.

I'll look into those links Pekka, thanks :thumb2
