Almost 100,000 miles has worn the heated grips on my LC.

Can I just replace the rubber grips?

Are there any better alternatives to the std style grips?

Thanks.

It’s quite a black art cutting the old ones off and replacing. There are videos on YouTube showing how though. I’d be tempted to use the Grip Puppies on top. Much more comfortable, but insulate heated grips a bit.
OEM ones are over £200 a pop 🤔

You can get some shrink tube off AliExpress to cover them up. Works just like it should and will make them look like new.

I have just replaced my rubber grips and despite bieng very careful must have damaged the heating elements

I did see the grip puppies to be fair.

Are they solid enough? I don't like stuff spinning or coming loose. Lol.

yes, they grip like fúck and last ages

I put some on my RS in 2016 and they are still on the bike (wanted a fatter grip) and work fine with the heaters

Feel like a real BMW owner now, ordering from Nippy Norman’s.

Arrived this morning.

Gonna fire up the compressor and try the air method I think.

Same situation for me, considered the heat shrink covers but went grip puppies, I ‘think’ I like the increased diameter but not sure. Worth trying as the cost is not great and zero risk of damaging the heating elements

Hi, I bought a pair from Amazon, not long ago, they where great, however I found them a little too thick so ordered this pair as below , thinner, and a bugga to put on, they stretch a little with 2 fingers before slipping over end of grips, persistence pays off and they slipped over just fine.
No need to trim as fit just great, use a small amount of dish water soap mixed with warm water, then when fitted switch on heated grips to warm for 5 minutes, they will soon stop moving, leave overnight in normal room temperature, for best effect.

If you cut the grip puppies to make them fit, make sure you put the cut end on the inside of the grip. That way the end on show looks neat. Soapy water works best for fitting the. Missenden Flyer did a short film on fitting them if you have any concerns.

Length of cricket bat grip. Slides over existing grips. One length does both grips. It’s thin enough not to make much difference to grip size and very grippy. Cheap and easy to do. Roll the grip up first and then unroll over existing grips.. (“slides over existing grips” is maybe a bit optimistic as it is a very tight fit, but looks factory fitted if done neatly.)
As fitted to my 1200 and 1250.
