Looks like the end of the line for Buell....

I have on order two red 1125CR's.
Best bargain i`ve seen in a long long time.
Understand today, that dealers have been asked to pay up front for them, dealers not happy, so i guess there may be a few delays as harley need to fund the distribution of approx 1000 buells from europe to the UK.
Hope it dont take long, itching to give this 146 bhp ugly bug a bimble before the snow. ;)

YOU BOUGHT TWO!!!

What price are they going for?

For anyone doubting the 1125 R or CR, with all the recalls and factory updates carried out they run well and are pretty powerful, relatively lightweight bikes. Having just bought one and now that it's run it I can confirm that the Rotax Helicon engine is a stomper of a motor and v torquey.

Make no mistake this was not a 'failed attempt at a sports bike' as someone has earlier said, it's a very fast and extremely good handling road bike with ergonomics that make it a better prospect for some compared to many similar (are there any? ;)) Japanese / Italian bikes.

Erik has said that this is the bike he had always hoped to make, and if it's recent results in the AMA Pro National proves anything then it has what it takes to be a proper track tool.

It's a shame that the Hardly marketing men somehow think that Buell is too tied in with the 'brand' to be sold as a separate entity. It's a double edged sword as we need spares backup, but hopefully with some luck Hardly will be bankrupt and out the game by 2012 and Buell as a brand may be resurrected.

Future classics, absolutely, even the 1125's !!!

Feck Harley and it's tassel wearing bling mentality......................

A real pity for all involved. I've seen 1st hand what happens when plants close. Like this time*, through no particular fault of their own.

* The way I read it, Harley became more of a finance-house than a "Motor Compnay". Too many sub-prime loans to folk already on the edge. Maybe around 50% of all US sold 'bikes are Harleys. Unfortunately too many riders can't really afford them.
Buell were shed as an easy cost cutting measure (doesn't affect core-business).

Sad stuff indeed.

So this is what's left......

Quote:
Milwaukee, Wis. (November 20, 2009) - Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE:HOG)
announced today that following the company's recent decision to
discontinue the Buell motorcycle product line, Erik Buell, Chairman
and Chief Technical Officer of Buell Motorcycle Company, will leave
the company to establish Erik Buell Racing, an independent motorcycle
race shop.

Erik Buell Racing will specialize in the supply of race-use-only Buell
motorcycle parts and race preparation services for engines and
motorcycles, and the building and sale of Buell? 1125R-based
race-use-only motorcycles under license from Harley-Davidson, as well
as providing technical support to racers of Buell motorcycles.

I collected my 1125CR today. Only managed 50 miles but well pleased with it. The engine set up is a bit snatchy at low revs (under 3k) but nothing I can't live with. Obviously, I have to run it in but it feels like a very , very fast bike.
I have the low bars which are ok but I think I will change to the higher bars which means changing the twin throttle cables, clutch hose and brake line. Riders quoted £217.89 for the parts inc the bars.
There appears to be a problem with the rear brake: like there isn't one. I'll give Riders a ring tomorrow and see what they say.
All in all, a very unusual m/c and nothing like anything else I have in the garage. It ain't no Honda: but thank feck for that :D

sfunny how some folk love to gloat at others misfortune.

OK it's not, it's just some puerile sheeite from an ignorant saddo :augie

That's an aftermarket upgrade opportunity, methinks.

Support your local engineering/tuning/custom shop and keep them in business. :thumb2

Jesus Lord that's an ugly bike. I mean there are ugly bikes (GSs) and there are ugly bikes (Buells) but that is FUGLY.

Hope it goes like stink to make up for it

Fraid that's a 'feature' sir :bounce1

I haven't had chance to get the bike back to the dealer yet but when I say there is a fault with the rear brake I mean that the bike doesn't slow down on a gentle slope at 10mph with the clutch pulled in if I use the rear brake: it's that bad.

I have only managed 50 odd miles to date but it's different and I like different. It looks better in real life than the photo but it's certainly no beauty.
yep, it goes like stink. If ever you are down this way, you can take it for a spin and see what you think :thumb

it is worth noting that Buells have never had rear brakes like the jap bikes, Erik always said the rear brake was to stabilise the bike in corners, he was a racer in his time, front for stopping.

though having said that it should at least stop you going down a slope at 10mph,
