Looks like the GS1300 is happening?

Front end styling is unsurpassed surely? Asymmetry may may now be confined to history, thanks to the ugly stick.

I'm just thinking of all the brickbats the HD PA received from the opinionated multitude on this very forum. Let's hope this next gen GS is a pre-production mule.

Don't blame me and I'm not ugly , bit rough round the edges more so..

Statted as a dual purpose bike, this is now more like a mad max roadster.

However, if it's looking more like a road only bike, that's because feedback tells BM that's what they're being used for.

Good point , must admit mine has never seen a rough track as I use a bike that designed for that purpose and more fun , either the EXC 250 or the older 525 , both are the tools for the job . Hate camping , so all trips on the GS revolve around Hotels and great riding Roads , not tracks . Not for all but as you say for most. People forget how good the Gs is as road bike as most would not have the skill set to husltle a big bike up interesting off road routes. Plus the fact I dont want to get mine sratched or wrecked.

If we lean back and try to remember earlier upgrades of the GS and early spyshots (the pothographer is probably on BMW's speed dial list), the end result has most of the time been very different from the predictions of the heavy speculators.

Chances are that the engine will have a larger volume, but it may as well be more than 1300 as well as less than 1300, even if the 1300 seems like the natural next step up from the 1250.

But as for frame and fairing details, screen, headlights etc, there is no point in speculating. If BMW wanted the current shots to represent the new bike, they would cover it up.

As for lighter weight, well, that would indeed fulfill a wet dream for quite a few riders. But if we are realistic, status quo compared to current bikes will probably be closer to the truth. A beefy engine requires a strong frame, and all this strength will show up on the scale. Chop the weight, and the bike will probably be a wobler.

As for a much higher Hp output, we must keep in mind the limitations of the boxer twin. I think we will se a even torquier engine, but still with less hp than the competition V-engines.

But my guess is just that, a guess.

However, I feel fairly confident that the end result will be quite different from what we have seen this far. And also, most of us, when the end result is revealed, will be surprised in a positive way.

Ever thought that they may have fitted a different part deliberately, to get you thinking it's item A , and when it launches your get what actually should be fitted

Personally I don't care one jot, I had no intention of buying a 1250 and feel exactly the same about a 1300

Yet you made the effort to comment...reminds me of this:

"A fox tries to get grapes to eat but cannot. The fox goes away in disgust saying he didn’t want them anyhow.

It is easy to despise what you cannot get." :rob

The way the GS is going is more towards touring and less about off road ability. Mind you, ridden carefully it can tackle gnarly stuff but it is not easy. Adding weight with each interation of the GS just moves it further away from the Gelande Strasse concept. I sometimes wonder if it is worth it, 1/4 of a ton (and more) at a £20+ price tag.

In comparison to the original G/S Paris Dakar you won't loose money on that, less power but lighter and simpler. It does make me wonder.

Apparently it has 27 litre saddle tanks so it can reach 160 mile range as it is has 'stuff you Ducati and KTM' 190bhp. The 900 cc version will give 350 mile tank range and be 30 kg lighter.

I am in the same opinion. 20k for a new bmw that goes on tour once a year.
Having purchased my gen 2 fazer 1000 with under 10k miles for under 4k and loving every mile...
Like my current 1200gs lc but won't be upgrading.

Where is boxoffrogs when you need him...

Oh he'll be here soon talking techno shite and dribble, he's probably really pissed he didn't break the picture news. But no doubt he was one of the riders...............or designers, using all that 170 bhp and 17 in wheels.....

Shnyface:blagblah

Just to add to my thoughts. The GS nomenclate is actually more appropriate to the KTM 1090 Adventure R. A true big capacity 50/50 on/off road bike. Who would have thought that the brand who created this sector is actually being one-upped by a rival as far as true meaning of GS is concerned. The GS is now more like an RT with higher suspension and less wind protection. Not a bad thing if you never leave Europe or have no inclination of riding on a gravel road.

MOTORRAD and 1000PS.at ran a few spy pictures and stories about the all new GS...Still in the speculative state but a few things are already clear.
- the new GS will be introduced to the public autumn 22 , 10 years after the then all new 30% watercooled GS 1200 LC
- the engine will be 100 % water-cooled
- Telelever instead of fork !!!
- the frame will consist of aluminum cast pieces to safe weight & money
The bike looks smaller which is a good thing and the covered valve covers could mean that the shift-cam might be upgraded to 3 cam lobes or shiftcam on both sides , intake and exhaust.
BMW trademarket R1300GS,M1300GS and R1400GS !
Which means more displacement for more power and TORQUE :thumby:
The bike might be quieter because it will be EU-5.2 ready whatever this means which is not good...Hopefully Akrapovic comes to the rescue with a dual-mode exhaust where the rider can decide if he wants fully open or appease the idiots quiet...
Otherwise it is still unclear how much more power we get , what the wait-savings will be and what M1300GS will mean; S1000XR with Telelever and driveshaft or 1290 SADV-R ?
The future looks good !
If I can order a la carte I take a 1400 GS with 17" C-F wheels , lower narrower handlebar and same size hardbags:thumb
It also looks like the next boxer generation might get different power ratings to leave room for the M and 1400 cc variants...Maybe a R1400S or M1300S is also in the cards...I got another 10 years where I would love to run a modern version of the R1100S for all it's worth :thumby:
Boxercup 2 would be much more interesting as part of the MotoGP spectacle than these boring Moto 2 & 3 races !
Win on sunday , sell on monday ;)
