Riding up to scotland on tuesday in torrential rain when i 'lost' all my displays on my clocks for an hour. All returned when it dried up and i was parked at services so i presume it was just a case of water getting in.Anyone else had owt similar ? Bit worrying when it's supposed to be a robust 'do it all' bike !

Check that the connector on the back of the speedo unit is firmly connected - in fact it might be worth reseating it - remember it does have a clip that needs squeezing (I think) to disconnect it.

Yup, +1:thumb. Loss of power will kill all the display. Only the one connector round the back

Slightly :topic. But Watchdog had a piece on about the Dash failing on some renault or Citroen.Apparently it is illiegal to opperate a vehicle with a faulty/non operational dash!

Checked the cable and it seems to be ok.Think it must have been water ingress as the digital display faded and became difficult to read just prior to going off all together. Is the cable connection behind the clocks the only place that water could have got in ?

To be honest, even if the connector was loose it'd be hard to get water inside unless you blasted it with a jet-wash or dropped the bike when fording a river. I wonder if a seal such as between the display and the plastic case has failed?

had same problem, they eventually stopped working all together after about 12 months :(
problem was wire from back of speedo, down where it joins into loom, was corroded
