Today I had a very close encounter with a range rover, fortunately I took most of the force with my upper body and left crash bar,

gods must have been smiling as after a short bit of fishtailing and target fixation into the curb I did not drop it.

All well so far - with all parties - shock is a funny thing....

anyway, almost immediately after I noticed a really obvious loss of power on acceleration - about 3000-6000 rpm - literally nothing then a big pick up - bike is screaming loud.

This continues on the ride home, never had a clutch slip (by its self!) so I would not know if this would be the right term but it kind of feels like it.

I've had the tank off to check for damage / cables being damaged or moved out of position. All throttle cables / bowden box / clutch cable. The bowden box had moved slightly but all cables are running free - I've not removed it though, that would be a last option if nothing else works.

I have repositioned the box re-sync'd the TB's (just in case) and static it seems fine going up the rev's
I've checked TPS, thats at the correct voltage and is not damaged in any way. Everything else is - visually fine.

Test rode it, its pulling very well but still this 'slip' / loss of power - more noticable in 3-6th gear at approx 3000 rpm - 6-7000rpm then it pick up again

any one got a clue what it could be?

Help would be greatly appreciated!

Clutch slip isn't a loss of power, it's a lose of forward momentum compared to engine revs.

Check your handguard hasn't been pushed against the clutch lever in the "bump".

Yep i'd go for handguard too, happened to me after a carpark drop off the stand just after i'd bought the bike, feels just like clutch slip.

ooh!!! Just run out to garage to see if
This was the problem, it's certainly
Moved, clutch lever stiffer, did not notice
When riding, it is now free moving
Will test asap, needed some booze to
Calm my nerves so not tonight.
Thanks for replys!! Will update when
Tested out.
Ta!

Handguard!

thanks for replies! :beer::beer:

Spoke to a mate about this and he showed me the stickers BMW have sent out for people to put inside the handguards because its such a common problem.
