I bought my bike six months ago and I'm buggered if I know what I did with the handbook. Can someone remind me where I put it. Or failing that tell me what I'm looking for ie is it just a small book, or a thick tome printed in all the languages known to man? Would I also have got a service book, or is that part of the handbook?
If I can't find it I'm going to have to accuse my wife of tidying it away.

Handbook has the service record as part of the book, back pages.
It is just a small book, about a6 size.
Checked panniers or under the seat from a previous service?
If it has been 'tidied' away try calling your dealer an see if they can get you another. If they Pdi'd an serviced it then they should be able to stamp your new on back up to date.

It has a full colour picture of your bike on the front cover, you will recognize it when you see it.
In the mean time you can down load a pdf version and place it on your smart phone.

I'm going on holiday for two weeks, on the bike, so the Memsahib can try to remember where I put it. I don't think there is anywhere on the GS to stash a lucky condom, let alone a handbook. I have downloaded the pdf to my phone - top tip, thank you.

I asked my dealer if I could buy another handbook because I didn't want to risk losing the service history whilst touring, preferring to keep the original at home under lock and key.

The parts man looked as me as if I was mad and said it would be £28.

I thought that was too much so I didn't bother. Would much prefer a separate service history book myself but I suppose BMW have found yet another way of saving money on every bike they sell.

Have you had it dealer serviced and forgot to pick up the book after it was stamped ?

I wondered that myself. The last time I saw it was at the dealers when I got my 600 mile service. But surely they would get in touch when they found it lying around, wouldn't they?

My Memsahim is a bleeding idiot,I got up to go work at 3:30am to catch the early morning truck from Birmingham to allover the shop, got on me bike, got 15 miles down the road and realized that she had not told me that I had left my work trousers with wallet, keys, passes to get into compound etc on a table by the front door.had to ride home again in double quick time. What's she like:rolleyes:

Use invoices as service history. Have never bothered with stamp collecting. Invoices are better in my opinion as they contain more detail. I scan and bin originals, and email the scans as part of the sale. Never had an issue with resale value. Stamps are so yesterday.
