Why not try a mobile indy lock specialist? I had to get a new remote key fob for my dad's VW camper van when mother lost her set of keys (no idea why she insisted on having a set as they were joined at the hip and she didn't drive) and he was lot cheaper than the price the main stealer quoted. He turned up, cut the key, programmed the new remote and removed the lost one from the ECU.260 is what I was told by BMW as well. I wanted a spare just in case but decided against it in the end for that price
Haven't you got the emergency plastic key?. That will let you start and ride the bike fine. Thanks chaps , on the traditional key or keyless point . I thought all the 1300 gs/gsa were keyless ?
Going by the costs its not as bad as i thought just getting it back to a dealer will be the pain assist were useless last night .
I had the same thought when I asked about a spare key for my 1250 (I dont know if they are the same key/system on a 1300) I ended up purchasing a spare plastic key with chip to start the keyless system (£37.34) and a spare metal key (£21.34) for panniers, toolbox etc which I didnt think the plastic key would be strong enough to open. just needed to show my V5 at the local Motorrad dealer. both delivered to my home within 10 days.260 is what I was told by BMW as well. Put it under the seat on the receiver ring on top of the battery. May even work just holding on top of the seat.
