Lost key !

On the floor outside my digs someone picked them up . Well just down the road on a unsurfaced road i use as a short cut

so did you leave it in the seat or luggage lock?

I had a dumb key cut to remove the seat on my RS after leaving the key in the seat lock. Fortunately this was in my garage and I noticed before I went for a ride. I kept the everyday keys (house, Givi, dumb key and disc lock) on a separate key ring that could be in an outer non waterproof pocket. The fob went inside my jacket in a pocket not used for anything else, so always zipped up.

How come you lost the fob in the 1st place? When I had keyless the fob remained in the zipped trouser picket on my textile suit and I had a cheap spare to unlock the seat, satnav and luggage on a keyring with my house and garage keys from this chap so I couldn't lose the fob. As you've found out once started the bike will carry on running even if the fob goes out of range.

Was rushing and I don't think i zipped my jacket pocket up ! And total disclosure the i was going a little quick down the unmade road 😎so it probably bounced out.

Secure it inside your pocket with a safety pin, then get a genuine non-remote key (about £25) to open your seat, then you’ll have no need to touch the remote key again.

why do we have to have keyless its just a huge inconvenience

nearly lost the key on my K1600 as I'd left it in the seat lock and then realised at 70 mph on a motorway... had it been a real bike it could never happen

on the R1300 was at the dealer and the service department couldn't get the bike to unlock let alone try and start it (and how many have they leant where to place the key and the knack of how to fight the retard obstructive button) - 4 minutes later !!! how old is the bike - maybe you need a new battery - It was made in Germany 3 weeks ago and wasn't a problem till you touched it !!!

yep, leaving a key in the wrong lock is easy done.

And for those of you who think that a real key is more secure, our production manager made a new key for one of our filing cabinets in about 10 minutes on a 3D printer. Ok, so it's plastic, but a key made like that would open a car door, and I'd bet it would unlock the steering lock too.

I'm going keyless any time I have the option

More nonsense.

in my case, it was a new Euro 3 bike in stock, R1200RS SE Sport, that they had to sell in 2016. No choice of spec but a hefty discount.

my current bike bought in March is not keyless. It took me a couple of months to remember to remove the key when parking up. Fortunately, there are not any bike thieves near my favourite chip shop on the Aberdyfi seafront or Aldi in Welshpool.

its so obvious which idiots work for BMW and lie about all the foibles trying to cover it up
