90 mph i think you mean 70 mph *cough*

The filler cap sits in a plastic base which is a push fit into the rocker cover - it's hard to tell if you have excess crankcase pressure or just a poor fitting base.

Did you loose just the cap or the cap and base?

Exact same thing has happened to me twice now, I dont trust it anymore. I wrap cable ties around the head between the fins just to make sure it stays in, 3 does the job, they don't melt it doesnt get hot enough for that.

fixed fingers crossed

my partner in crime (wont mention your name bill:D) had most of bike to bits ,cleaned everything and fitted a new fillerplug o ring and housing After severe testing still in there !!! :beerjug:

That's very unusual, are you 100% sure the oil level wasn't too high?

When you fit a new one, you need to make sure you cleanout the hole for the receiver.....you'll feel the groove that the O ring is supposed to fit into.

On Gert's (Kloek, above) there were traces of black silicone sealant around the bottom edges of the receiver hole, where somebody had presumably tried to glue the bugger in......All I did was to clean it all up properly, lightly greased the O ring and tapped it into place with a large socket as a drift......pinching the O ring is quite easy to do, so you need to guide it in carefully, but it is a tight interference fit once it's in.

We've got a couple of spares in, so come down to Gt Bentley if you need, we're only 20 mins from you :thumb2

I replaced the left cylinder head a bit back. Getting the oil filler cap/holder to stay in place was a nuicense. Ended up using a high end gasket sealant to make it stay in place.
