Lot of travel on rear brake pedal

I have had as the above for a while, new pads etc. Bled the back brake last night to change the fluid and there were black bits in it. The bike is 2001 1150 with abs, where does the collective think black bits come from? back brake works but lots of travel. pipe seams to swell just in front of caliper when pedal pressed hard.

ITS BLOODY DANGEROUS !

More than likely inside of OEM rubber brake hoses starting to crack up and delaminate.

They can start balooning prior to busting causing excess brake pedal travel. Which it sounds like your symptoms Can cause the brakes to bind on as well.

Just check the brake hose threads on here

Time to swop them ASAP for some new hoses braided stainless lines before things get horribly traumatic

If the backs on the way out the front lines are worth replacing too

Either change the brake lines or get someone to check them for you

Thanks, I am a good Motor works Customer at the min!! I have spent a bit of time on the West coast in and around bikes, those guys are legends in there own minds and the customers are to blame for all and sundry, any routine wear and tear is customer ignorance!
