low battery

hi guys,gs12 been stood in the shed for a wee while now and its been cold,the bike does start but to be honest i think its going to need a new battery,as it swings over with not alot of power,BUT when riding the front brake lever seems to lost a bit of its give,as if on off ,not very progressive,(it does have abs) is this a symtem of a duff battery,what do you think ,cheers guys.

Have the surfaces of the disks rusted? That affects the brakes till it's scruubed off with a bit of hard braking

Unless you've got those crappy servo brakes, battery should have no influence

aye its got abs and servo asisst brakes .the little motor for the brakes is still making the usual noise when the brake is applied .

Take the battery out and take it and get it tested

Trying to start these bikes with low battery is a BIG no no the current surge is VERY bad for the electronics

And the lights go dim at the same time, yeah?

Much as I hated mine I never had them go "more binary" than they already were - occasionally failed altogether but that's another story

thats correct ,the light do dampen slightly,oh and charging ,that was oviously the first thing i did to put it on an optimate .
and i know the battery is f****d ,as it struggles to start ,what i was asking is the hard brake lever to do with the battery knackerd.

Replace battery. There is no real in between with a GS, once the voltage slips below a certain level you get the dreaded clik.... its not neccesseraly the first start in the morning, it may well start, then to ride 50 miles and it wont start again. Best to just replace to avoid being stuck.
