It's been pretty cold over night these past few days.

Getting on the 1190 first thing in the morning (4-5'C) the oil pressure low warning has flashed in the info panel. Only momentarily and only first start up of the day when cold.

It's probably the coldest the bike's been as it's normally in a warm garage at home so I'm assuming it's just thick oil that's starting to make its way around the engine.........

Just to put my mind at ease though, has anybody else had this?

Andres

lots of stuff on advrider about collapsed oil filters.

IIRC tends to happen when the bike is cold. never seems to do any harm, but worth checking the filter maybe?

I've had the collapsed oil filter issue, but in my case the oil pressure light did not extinguish. Might be worth checking for you though.

My oil pressure light started lighting up on start-up and flickered on and off for the first mile or so. When I took it to the dealer they found a badly collapsed filter and further that the previous dealer had put in the wrong oil. Apparently the collapsing filter is a known fault and there is a tech update. Mine was replaced free of charge. Problem solved. Hope this helps.

P.S. I had to pay for oil change.

Where are you Andres .. ??

(only out of curiosity ... !)

Very nice too! Have fun .... :thumb2

(First time Rosy and I have had a decent long trip - panniers are pretty shite compared to my old GS! Had to supplement them with kriega bags ...!!)

Should have got the Givi Trekker style ones Giles. I am using my GSA liners in them and there's room for a US10 to slot in at the end of both of them too. They just look lop sided.

Glad you're having fun Giles, our last day here; a week of travelling across Spain and back and a week here in the mountains. The bike has dealt brilliantly with two up loaded, one up hooning and a fair bit of mountain trails with just a few minor niggles. The more miles I get on Katey the more I'm impressed and the more we gel.

I'm using the panniers with a roll bag on the back (gives more room on the seat compared to the top box).
TBH they aren't as good as Varios (nothing is) but I'm more than happy with them and at the end of the day they unclip with no ugly frames left in place :)

This is where we're staying and the same bend with the Tomos this time last year. Gotta admit the Tomos was more fun flying down the mountain :)

Oh, and back on topic, the oil pressure warning flickered on again this morning on the mornings 'bread run'.........

Andres

I did wonder about having a peek but we're on or way to Santander for the ferry now so not much I could do about replacing the filter anyway.......... It'll have to wait 'til I'm home now.

Andres

from what i've read, you just change the filter and off you go.
