Ok Ok Ok, I give in nearly lost it this morning and I definately strained something!

How much lower is the BMW low seat option for the 1150, is it worth having or does lower just mean harder?
Any body bought one how much are they, can I borrow it?

I really

vertically challenged? me too

I've got an 1150 GS with the BMW lowered seat which does the trick for me. I'm 5'4".

It has to be said that it's pretty hard, i reckon about 100-150 miles is about all you do before numb bum sets in

touratech do a lowered seat and i believe that Wunderlich do also.

cheers

The BMW seat is 30 mm (i.e. just over an inch) lower than standard. In the lowert position, that equates to an 810mm seat height.

I agree with Smudger that its hard, although the padding is thicker towards the rear of the seat. My usual technique is to use the froant (lowest) part of the seat through town or traffic, just in case I need to get a foot down, but on motorways, I slide back onto the comfy bit.

This works OK for about 2 hours, then a rest is definitely needed!

Speak to Melvyn @ custom seats, he'll make what ever you want.
I've got an Adv. but the low seat option is crap. Melvyn did a facelift on it & I now sit in it, rather than on it. Get the gel mesh inserts & it's the business, sit on it all day long.

Rainman:
Was it your Adventure seat at Melvyn's last week? Looked very swish! post us some piccies!

Has anybody had there 1150 seat lowered by melvyn ?
put new shocks on which have raised the bike about an inch
so any pics would be helpful .

Cheers
