We'll I've tried my c3 in top box in various ways on its side upright etc still no joy. How did you fit yours in the old box.

It's certainly a bit of a Rubik's cube to do - top-box in maximum condition, helmet on its side, base of helmet facing towards the front of the bike and it should fit. Any other way and the lump in the bottom for the mounting catch gets in the way.

By contrast I could throw my C3 into the Vario top-box on my LC in any angle with ample room to spare. A slightly smaller lid would probably go in with the box in its low position.

Actualy they were of course not FOC - they were part of a package to persuade folks to buy some soon to be obsolete old stock

Ride your bike more, spending less time looking at it.

You'll worry less about the aesthetics of the scaffolding. Not least as you can't see it whilst you are sat on the bike, enjoying the awesome forward progress you are making.
