Luggage Options for 1300GS

has anybody removed the oem BMW pannier carriers (1300GS) and fitted rails .
Im looking at fitting Outback racks and then Kreiga plates for Kriega OS 32s
any problems issues re connectors ? TIA

ALSO i want to keep the oem top plate to fit BMW vario topbox

I removed my carrier panniers and left the top box fitting intact. I fitted the Wunderlich rack.

I am nobody's idea of a mechanic, and my wiring knowledge extends to a plug but no further, and it is straightforward.

There are YouTube videos on it which are helpful. You are left with two dangling wires which you insulate and tuck up under the seat. It doesn't affect the top box fitting.

I have Shad Terra black metal panniers on my 1300GS which the previous owner fitted and they are quality items. I would suggest looking at these. Side opening and the larger one takes a full helmet. However i just don't use them so may sell them on if anyone is looking. The racks fit easily to the GS.

I’m using Givi with quick release frame. Vario mounts left in place,small bracket fitted to rear footrests.

Any chance you could post up a photo of your set up with the Givi mounts, are you using their soft luggage or metal boxes?
