LUGGAGE OPTIONS

This is referring to the older Adventure pannier's ? Not the New 1300 Adventure panniers in the 1300 forum ?

"Much Better"

pannier rails fit without bending into shape ......... Have no idea what you're on about ?
They are waterproof .......... My LC adv panniers or top box never leaked ?
Lids do not fly open as they have friction hinges .......... Never heard of that? And mine have never done that ?
Locking mechanism better ......... Than the new 1300 adv luggage ? Dont think so.

Sounds a load of twaddle to me :thumb And certainly the wrong forum !

I am referring to the choices for the R1300GS which is what the OP was refering to

So, not the Adventure aluminium luggage then
You're comparing the aluminium Bumot luggage, to the plastic vario stuff .:blast
NOT the new BMW Ali adventure luggage.

Its always puzzled me as to why you would chose a different luggage system as to the one designed and manufactured for that bike ?
Is it just cost ?
Some don’t like the clamshell opening on gs ( not adventure) luggage, or the weight… so some will like top opening tin boxes
Personally I went with sw motech rails ( as they come off in a couple of minutes , so no scaffolding left on), and kreiga soft bags as I prefer them to hard panniers.

Horses for courses….. not everyone wants what the manufacturer decides is best.
In my case it wasn’t the cost, it was the fact that on standard gs the vario cases weigh a lot even when empty, and I didn’t like the style…..thankfully I didn’t spec them as the6 seem to be troublesome to say the least.

Given the above revelation that the GSA packers can’t be made to fit the GS, I’m now looking for top loaders that can be made to use the BMW key.

I currently have the 1250 Vario panniers with adapters, but not overly keen.

Dunno , but SW Motech do the Dusc stuff which I’ve just ordered . The 41 litre pannier weighs 4 kgs

Have they arrived? What’s your thoughts?

I guess you have to remove the Vario fixings? I like the idea of the quick release bolts to take the scaffolding off when the panniers aren’t in use.

Cheers

I’ve got the Dusc top box on my Vstrom . Don’t have a GS

Just to throw something else into the equation...... These use the GSA mounts

Any one any experience with Advpro. Have a set of Moskomoto back country soft panniers. These plates look to be the answer to not fitting an additional fram to the GSA. Looks like most of the alternative option to oem panniers all sourcing from Europe.
