M’off…. Brittany calling yet again…

Slept like a log again last night, room at the hotel was very hot upon arrival, I’ve turned the thermostat down to 21°c but it got too cold in the night, so turned it up to 23°c and it got too hot to sleep in, but it was super quiet none the less. My alarm went off at 07:00, Captain called me through at 07:09am, asking if I was awake yet, I tell you what, I’ve snoozed my alarm and until that call came through, it felt like I’ve slept for an hour. Captain tells me that there is a some moist weather incoming.

Quick morning ablutions done (I’ve packed my stuff the night before to save on time in the morning), stuff taken to the bike, then meet Captain (“you only 4 minutes late 🙄) for brek at 07:30.
We were due to leave at 08:30am but due to the forecast rain showers, we got going by 08:15. That’s overall 11 minutes early Captain 😉

An obligatory “stand by your bike” photo taken from this morning in La Rochelle, then leg it before the treat of shower was closing in on us.

And one without a pillock blocking the view …

Captain has planned us a route for coming back up North. I said why not drop in to La Gassily as we did in 2021 on the way south to Spain.

IMG_9586.webp

And we did without a single regret and hardly a detour, adding mere 2 minutes extra to overall days riding.
Nice spot for lunch just by the bridge,

IMG_6254.webp

IMG_6256.webp

… a choice of four restaurants, two of which were completely deserted, despite being open and the other two were busy(ish) for a Monday lunch time. The toss up between the two contenders was based on what salads were available.
One had decent selection and ingredients were favorable, the other had lesser selection, cost more and shite ingredients, so the first one won it.

Mine… (veggie natch)

Captains (Italian) and well rated! 👌🏻 as was mine.

IMG_6570.webp

Good experience, but got screwed up when the bloke in charge was too quick to get our coffee out the door, and got it all wrong*. :blast Captain wasn’t best pleased having corrected him. We still ended up with same coffee

Next stop at Josselin (only 40-50 minutes away) for the obligatory pictures of the bikes on the bridge (also see posts from Captain earlier this afternoon),

IMG_6263.webp

then a quick (traditional) swig :beerjug::beer:in the square.

IMG_6265.webp

Then back at the house via a stop at Super U, to grab some cheeeeeeze for our baguette sandwiches tomorrow at t’tea time.

Sort some bits upon arrival, mainly lube bike chains (I haven’t done mine since the weekend before last and having covered now over a 1000 miles)., throw some worn clobber onto pile to be laundered, change into something a bit more chilled and comfy…

We’ve had a cup of tea whilst I was tasked with sorting captains zip on his 3 day old (Doc be ware) bright orange Rohan fleece jacket/jumper thing, where he had trapped the zipper part of plastic/nylon teeth between the lid and the case edge of his topbox and fought with it, whilst trying to close the latching mechanism. I just wish sometimes he’d “faff” a little, instead of rushing at it 🙄 and cocking it up in the process.
Still, I’ve managed to make it better (not perfect by any stretch of imagination) using my Leatherman, which hasn’t seen a light of day for the best part of 3 years (I think) which does form part of my bike tool kit, that I’ve been ferrying about on every bike trip around Europe for donkeys years. Glad it had come in to be useful.

Then it was G&T time, whilst sat in the sunshine and Captain having dialled in via WhatsApp to our Northern Stunt Monkey pall, a few insults back and forth, with a good measure of chinwag was had during the nigh on 25 minute call. Good to catch up again Doc.

Followed by the t’tea time. Fresh from the oven**, curtesy of Super U from a couple of nights ago.

After t’tea, a bit of chatting and reminiscing about stuff from years gone by and some laughing (spelled coretly 😁) was had at Anne’s shenanigans…

It is 10pm and it is still is a daylight out here

Captain called it a day, and trotted off to his chambre, to watch some racing around the world for £20k.

Meanwhile I’ve sunk my teeth into updating this thread with this post. Taking absolute ages to upload the pictures, due to poor signal over here.

Well, tomorrow is another day sees us on the bikes somewhere different.

More tomorrow.

*for the second time today we had our coffee order screwed up despite blatantly asking what we wanted.

**I know it’s coming, just wait for it, most probably already did 🙄 that blooming parsley bouquet
will never get old now, will it 🤣. Who would have thought it.

I hope the zip repair didn't take more than 1 minute 36 seconds 😬

😎

That pool in the garden is very small :D

Nice one Ev.
And shh about the call. People will think I'm mates with you and the Captain.

Monimoto is very clever .
Ev has gone to bakery so got both bikes out of garage , but I have Voge keys including Monimoto fob, so it sent me an alert to tell me bike has moved, together with GPS location

For the yearly fee they are well worth it.

Fixed that giant pile of “Chinese shite” in the town square. Namely the Guernsey issued numberplate swivelling about on every bend 🤣 fecking thing was distracting me from my enjoying the.

Good job this tool tart does cart his toolkit about with some basic provisions included.
