After dropping my GSA at the weekend ... I decided to fit some more protection for the cylinder heads... so I’m busy fitting the Machine Art ones ... nice quality and easy to fit ...
My question is when refitting the crash bars the rubber protector is now tight up against the cylinder head ( originally there was a gap ).

Anyone else found this ? Any suggestions?

And no there was no damage from dropping it on this side

As you have fitted the Guards the gap will be smaller anyway , is it the same both sides ? Easy fix , place a few spacer washers behind the bar mounts and this should take up the gap .Remenber tho that the more spacers you add the less thread there will be in the mounting points , so you have need to balance up with longer bolts ( ie see what the standard protusion is and this will give you the rule to work to ).
Hope this helps.

+1 on above you can see how many spacers I had to use on my Wunderlich engine bars on the bolts to get about a 1 or 2 mm gap from the bars, and yes I used longer bolts also, but if you do not need many spacers original bolts will be ok.

I had machine art cyl head covers and bmw engine bars and there was plenty of clearance between the covers and the bars, please be aware that there are two different bmw engine bars for the LC's.
The engine bars do spring towards the covers when the bike is dropped which is probably in the design to reduce the shock load to the mountings etc.
I suggest that you the get some spacers and longer bolts to give you some working clearance otherwise the imact of a drop will be sharply focussed onto just the one area of the machine art guards which is not in their design.

The later engine bars for 2017 onwards do foul when fitted with MachineArt covers. I used a normal file to file away a few mm of the rubber spacer on my engine bars at the point where they touched.

The rubber spacers files very easily and when fitted, look like they grew there. I preferred to do this than fit washers/spacers as I personally feel this may reduce the strength at the anchor points.
