Made a few changes

The only bits I've added from the GSA is the luggage, given that the only part of the luggage system that comes standard with the GSA is the luggage rack and I picked mine up on Ebay at a decent price from a seller who had diitched his to fit the GS rack so he could use the vario box and panniers the cost is pretty much the same.

As for the extra lights I personally like them for the increased visability in day time riding and paticalarly at night as I'm blind as a bat, which causes me issues in the dark. :blast

On the twin Akra, well the jury's still out on that one but I change exhausts more often than my underwear so God knows how long it will last. :augie

Each time I see a different exhaust fitted there seems to be a requirement to shield the pannier fron the extra heat - I have considered changing the one on mine.....I was at the National BMW rally in Wisconsin a couple of months back and I saw something called a 'hex' pipe that looked interestig and sounded pretty good too but again you need to shield the pannier..........do you have that problem?

Regarding GSA bits, how about the cylinder gaurds and the fornt fender extender?:augie

cracking bike!!!

well roger you certainly did pimp your ride!!! think it looks brilliant and very stealth like. Would like to see you with full lights on would be scarey site. Good luck and keep her between the ditches :beerjug:

:blast Forgot about the cylinder head guards! OK you got me on those, but they were pre-used and bought on here your honor, cheap as chips they were and a lot less than buying a complete GSA. :augie

Don't think of the beak extender as a GSA part though, I picked it up about 3 months before the GSA was launched from Touratech.:green gri

I've never had an issue with heat transfer to the panniers with any of the exhausts fitted on the bike, the only problem I had heat wise was a melted rear indicator when I had a Two Bros can fitted.

We did a 2 up trip to France this year and covered over 3000 miles with the BMW Akra can and a set of Remus headers and the pannier contents were fine so I can't see fitting the Hexacone would be a problem.

I take it that's the can you saw?

Yup, that's the can - still don't think I'll ever spend money on an aftermarket one though................interesting what you say about touratech supplying stuff to BMW - I noticed their name on the inside of the panniers on mine. They have come a long way.......I remember meeting a couple of blokes in '91 in the French Alps who had a couple of 'interesting, stripped down, tricked up' GSs fitted with touratech stuff......I was on my new 800 GS at the time and they teased me a bit for having a standard GS..........some things never change!

Decided to make a few changes to the bike so here is the all new Black Thunder.

Always liked the idea of the bike in black so had a set of panels sprayed in a deep black metallic paint, came up with a finish like glass after they hand polished them for a hour.

Lights are now Hellas, a set of DE fogs which will be converted to HIDs thanks to Les Wassell and Hella's own DE xenon spots, had been looking at these for some time but the cost was prohibitive at £490. Managed to find a source which was much more affordable and took the plunge. :augie

Had decided against changing the exhaust, but an impulsive late bid on Ebay resulted in an Akra full system.

Now what 's left to do? :augie Get out and put some more miles on it would be a start!

Nice pipes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Ahh well the Factory went when I got the GS as did the Tigcraft cans, if you ever see a set available sell a kidney they are probably the nicest cans I've ever seen and I've tried a few believe me. :augie:D

So you must be the same Thunder from the Aprilia Forum who gave me loads of sound advice regarding Tigcraft and Pro-oilers three or four years back . Bought my first GS in 2004 , ran my Aprilia alongside the GS for a year and much as I loved my Factory I just used it less and less . If its the same Thunder hi . If not apologies .

It's a small world ain't it. :D Yes it's the same Thunder, can't believe the number of Aprilia owners who are on here.

Still got the exhaust fetish, had 7 on the GS since I got it but no Pro-OIler, although I just got the latest version sent over to fit on Ms Cheek's 650. :augie
