Well it's a doddle to fit and same size as oe, it sounds great :D , should really upset the white van man, if you require anything louder then the Nautilus has to be the one, but for a ten minute job and two wire's I can recomend the 80.

If any one wants either horns they are in stock at my local motor shop (01260 271741) he now can take the card over the phone, or if you give me a shout I will get you one posted out, about £3.00 postage, so its still cheaper than Motor World.

Snap, fitted mine today, louder than a loud thing. Sounds like the airhorns on a HGV.

Can't wait to use them in anger.

:D

Sod the anger bit just go past someone and give it a go:D

I got two lengths of wire with female ends on (four inches long), then scotch locked to the horn wires, you can use the original bar to attach too or they supply two bars, just drill one of the holes to a larger diameter then re-attach like the oe.

Really easy

Horn

Am i correct in thinking the OE horn has only got two wired.. and they are on space connections.

What does the Magnum have in the way of contectors and wires on it..anything? Or do I need to knock up some extendas/wires to allow the get it to fit..?

Will be rining them shortly to order...

Cheers

Have read the magnum Horn thread but can't find out if anyone has managed to locate a BMW type connector "Can-Bus" system type as referred to in Nippy Normans instructions on horn fitting. I want to perform option 2 below and have a neat connection. Anyone managed to do it ? if so please tell me how.

I have tried removing the connector from the OE horn without success it seems to be well fastened on to the horn, so can't see what Nippy Norman means.

TIP FOR OWNERS OF BMW MOTORCYCLES WITH THE CAN BUS SYSTEM
When fitting the Magnum horn to these bikes there is no adverse effect on the Can-Bus system. There are two methods of connection:
1. Cut off the original horn connector and attach spade connectors to the two lose wires. These then connect onto the Magnum horn
OR
2. Keep the horn connector on the harnesss, remove the corrisponding connector on the OE horn and attach this connector to the new Magnum horn for a really neat connection.

On the 1200 I soldered two wires just behind the o/e plug and put spades on the end.
I only used scotch locks on the 1150 (for two years) and no problem.

I used mine in anger on Saturday at a dozy old duffer who was turning right, then decided not too. His old lady almost jumped onto his lap..... :D

Review..

Well I have had mine on a while now.. so here is a review.

Fitting: I cheated and got mine put on by blue bell..lol. a five minute job, done at same time as service, no extra charge. They moutned it under the beak in the same place as Fanum et al's shown previously. The technician decided to test it, whilst looking under the beak.. "F*** thats loud".. was his comment as he rubbed his ears.. :D

Long term: Worked fine for a while, then tried to use it in anger to recieve a low..nerrrrrr noise.. hmmm summit up. Took the unit off, and then rotated it around its spiral axis till a load of water came out. hmmm.. So rotated it a bit more to try to limit potential water ingress. Worked fine once drained and since.

Suggestions: I have contemplated drilling a small drainage hole in the black casing to let any water drain out that happens to get into the horn section, but not got around to it yet.

Still one of the best mods I have done to date. Paul at Blue Bell Crewe, still smirks about the technician to this day...

Problems: If you use a big tank bag like the Touratech one I have, when you turn full lock left you set the b****r off as the horn buttons hits the bag pocket which 1. Can scare the uhmmms off yourself (especially on a ferry car deck.. :D ). 2. Scare passers by whilst attempting to turn around in a car park..

Had another look at trying to fit the Magnum this pm to my 1150GS, still can't work out how to get the oe connector block off the BM horn and use it on the Magnum as per Nippy Normans instructions.
I would like to keep the connector original and not hack into the wiring if at all possible.
I need a BMW Can- Bus plug same sex as is on the horn with a small lead going to two spade terminals.

Does anyone know if you are able to buy the connector with a lead, I could just about manage to solder on the correct spade connector ends if I could just locate the lead / plug bit? :help
